Default What if the other side wins?

So, what do you think will happen and what are you going to do if the people you're voting against win? What are the real life implications you see for yourself personally. I mean, how will the other side winning effect YOU and what are you going to do if that comes to pass? In short: How will YOUR individual life change?

Unless they're trying to fluoridate my water, I'll just crack open a Mountain Dew and sing a few bars of Que Sera, Sera. As far as the presidential election goes, someone I'm voting against winning is 100% certainty. The next president is going to have a pretty much a hapless administration anyways.

Now if they are trying to fluoridate my water, well...I'm just going to have to go and kill them. I mean it.

In my own case, I'm researching becoming an US income tax expatriate by permanently relocating to a low tax country like Belize, Costa Rica, Andorra etc.

From what I can tell about Republicans....they only care about taxes...such simple minded creatures.

They love to bash Obama and Obama supporters but I sure NEVER see them giving positive reasons to support someone else.

I wish I could join you.

Starting last year I went negative. I sold off about 80% of my stocks putting the money into a money market and tax- free munis.

I bought gold ( Thank God ! ). Most importantly, I carried forward as much income as I could in '07 in case we get another Clintonian retroactive tax increase.

As things currently stand, if Obama raises taxes we are guaranteed to have a Depression. Not a recession. A DEPRESSION.

I dont even want to imagine 4 more years of a Republican president. Everything has gone steadily downhill for the last 2 terms and McCain/Palin will just keep on going same old same old so...if I could..I'd relocate out of country if they get in. Since thats not really feasible I suppose I'll just sit back and cry as the country goes further down the drain.

If there is a depression there won't be any running away from it. No matter where you go.

are you referring to an increase in the personal income tax, an increase in Social Security / medicare taxes, an increase in US business taxes, an increase in the death tax, an increase in the capital gains tax, or just a general rhetorical tax increase ?

Yes to all except the "death tax". Well even that could be depressionary if it's sufficiently confiscatory.

    Well let's see :

I'm voting Democrat because I like walls between the FBI and CIA to keep them from sharing information on terrorists. They should learn to keep their mouths shut and not spill secrets.

I'm voting Democrat so Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac can resume writing mortgages for people who can't afford them.

I'm voting Democrat because I think oil and gasoline are too cheap.

I'm voting Democrat because I want the government to be able to take my property and give it to someone else who can use it better.

I'm voting Democrat because I think my taxes are too low.

I'm voting Democrat because the Government doesn't spend enough money.

I'm voting Democrat because Maxine Waters knows how to spend my money better than I do.

I'm voting Democrat so we won't stop Hugo Chavez from getting nukes ; or Iran.
Hey if we got em, why can't those guys ?

I'm voting Democrat so only criminals will have guns. They're the ones with the experience to properly use them, aren't they ?

I'm not sure about that. They certainly get a LOT of folks moving in from India, Pakhistan and Haiti.

Batten down the hatches and wait for 2012.

Technically it's not "the end." It merely is a time of far reaching and paradigm shifting change.

Capitalism is under a great deal of threat. It is capitalism that feeds a lot of people. If it goes under, starvation will be very impressive. There are many other things too.

I guess you don't just restrict yourself to McCain supporters, you go after ALL Republicans. Yeah, I see the difference.

I'll probably end up paying more taxes, and see nothing for it. I personally still see a light at the end of the tunnel, but if things get to bad, I might consider leaving the country, while I'm young and don't have a family to contend with.

If McCain wins I will be REALLY afraid for my security.....financially, this country has hit the shitters since 2000.....I have been dancing since then, and I have seen a huge change in the economy reflected in that industry, in people's lives, etc.

I will also be afraid that my reproductive rights will be challenged...

The President of the United States is authorized to talk to both the FBI and the CIA. The Republican President was specifically told that Osama bin Laden is planning an attack on the United States. His response was to do nothing and continue with his vacation.

There were plenty of private banks and other institutions that wrote mortgages for people who can't afford them.

Oil and gasoline prices more than doubled during the time the Republicans had complete control of the government. For years Republicans opposed increasing the CAFE standards for vehicles. It was only after gasoline reached $4.00 a gallon that they finally did something. If they passed these standards 10 years ago, we'd spending less than 1/2 of what we spend now on gasoline.

Three of the Supreme Court justices who voted in favor of this were appointed by Republican presidents.

Taxes will eventually be increased regardless of who is in power. We're eventually going to have to start paying off the trillions of dollars of debt run up by the Republicans.

Hugo Chavez doesn't have a nuclear weapons program. Iran has been moving full speed ahead with theirs while the Republicans have been in power.

Republicans fight laws that keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Republicans have fought against any laws that limit the number of guns an individual can buy, so they can resell them to criminals.

Regardless of who wins, they'll be better than Bush. Of all the top republican candidates who were running McCain was the only one I could stomach (I'll even admit to voting for him here in AZ when he ran for senate). There would still be a democratic majority (I assume) so things wouldn't be too bad. A divided government even sometimes works best as a system of checks and balance. I'd also prey to god that McCain stays healthy because I have no doubt that Palin would be a disaster. All that being said I'm still voting for Obama.
