It really pisses me off how in most clubs, the manager is male. the dj is male. all the bouncers are male. sometimes, the bartenders are male. It seems like everyone you have to answer to and pay out is male, and it really pisses me off.
We had a club meeting tonight and in response to my suggestion of allowing girls that come in at 7 to leave at 2 to not have to pay the 75 dollar fine for leaving early because a nine hour shift is VERY long (wouldn't you agree??) The longest shift I've worked is 8 hours, but honestly anything after 6 hours is a waste of time. It might be different for other dancers, but for me dancing is extremely taxing on my body and emotions and my ideal length of working is 6 hours (10pm-4am, or at my previous club- 8pm-2am)... NOT 9 hours from 7-4. When I brought this point up in the meeting this 5'6 shrimp of a bouncer says "well I work 10 hours a day, 9 hours is nothing you should be fine". He works at fucking Whole foods making burritos and sandwiches. I've worked in the foodservice industry, it is NOT as physically and mentally taxing. I would say 6 hours of dancing is equivalent to TWELVE hours of serving sandwiches at wholefoods. give me a fucking break. Some of the dancers even said that nine hours is fine and anyone should be able to do it, bragging that they work 9 hour shifts 4 days in a row... OF COURSE THEY CAN DO IT BECAUSE THEY DO COKE !!!!!! I COULD work 9 hour shifts 4 days a week if i wanted to be a physical and emotional wreck, but part of the great thing of being a dancer is that you can choose to not work long shifts and consecutive days in favor of your personal sanity and health....
The only service industry job that I can see might be almost equal to how emotionally and physically taxing stripping is is waitressing in a high-volume fine dining restaurant with asshole customers... but even then- you're not getting naked and wearing 7 inch heels.
the NERVE of him. UGH
NO TIP FOR HIM FOR A WEEK!
