Former SCJ now in rehab.

Yeah, I think hope was pretty much gone... Sad though.
That's very sad, wonder how an experienced pilot can end up like that.

haven't found the body yet, maybe he is in Brazil boning some hot babe :-)

Mountains don't care how much experience a pilot has, the mountain will win an argument every time. Although NTSB has yet to complete investigation, and issue final report, article link has a witness recalling the presence of thunderstorm clouds around the peaks of the mountains on the day of the crash.
A google link listed crash site (note- it may actually be where hiker found paper items) as being N 37deg 39.533' W 119deg. 07.533'. That area is between Mt. Lyell (elev. 13114'), and Mammoth Mountain (elev. 11059'). With various articles listing crash area elevation between 9700' & 3200 meters(~10500') illustrates that flying around mountainous areas in marginal weather isn't a healthy combination. Scenarios like this have claimed lives of novice and pro alike. RIP, SF.
How does someone just crash into a mountain, don't they see it coming? Or maybe he lost control of the plane. My boyfriend has a pilot's license and stuff like this is the reason he can't convince me to join him on his plane. Even though he says there's a parachute switch that can save the plane in case of anything, I still don't feel comfortable.
RIP Steve Fossett.
Human remains found in the plane but it looks like the rest was eaten?
While I personally think it's fine for animals and insects to eat a corpse - because that's natural - I don't think that the average funeral industry propelling person does. That would kind of suck. Grandchildren and young family members hearing that worms, maggots and coyotes took care of Grandpa/Uncle Stevie.

Updrafts, downdrafts, I'm sure they can be quite strong in those mountains if you're flying low for a view.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.
Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

I'll bet the local carnivores said to themselves, "you know, that airplane food ain't half bad."
Yeah, I know, bad taste.
Sorry.

That is fucking FUNNY... I am eating ice right now and I laughed so hard that I spit some out.
I'm tired and still on campus at 12:24am.
I need to take my ass home.
There's an SW'er I need to call so I can convince her that I'm sleeping in her bed and she's sleeping on her couch when I visit.
lol (luv ya chica!)

Nine months after finding plane, NTSB determined probable cause of accident to be "inadvertent encounter with downdrafts that exceeded the climb capability of the airplane". Go to www.ntsb.gov , click "Aviation", in accident database, type in California under state, timeframe Sept. 2007, aircraft registration of N240R. Then one can read both factual data, and probable cause. Being a high profile case, investigation was more thorough than many other similar accidents.
I'm right 96% of the time.I don't sweat
