    Default Teh Canadian Debate eh...

Right off the hop I see Elizabeth May (Green Party) needs to do something with her hair. It's a rat's nest. She's got guts, I'll give her that. I'll probably vote for her or Jack Layton, who is making a lot of sense too, but that figures since I'm pretty much a lefty.

Our debate is taking place around a big table. I like that. Kind of like a kitchen table discussion.

Anyone else tuning in to the CBC tonight?

That's the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, our National (state subsidized) TV station.

I have no idea what the Liberals were thinking naming Dion the leader of their party. After tonight's debate, I still believe he was a poor choice. I think he's gonna cost them some seats.

Canada has a state run TV station? I didn't know Canada was a socialist country.

    Damn, seal the border!

May was pretty good. Someone pointed out to me that it seemed like she had a lot of rehearsed/memorized statements and arguments, but I still agree with what she had to say.

For those interested in Strategic voting (endorsed by Elizabeth May) in your riding in order to ensure the "environmental" vote isn't simply split/wasted:

    http://www.voteforenvironment.ca/

    http://www.voteforclimate.ca/en/map.php

Find out where your favourite candidate stands in polling at the moment in your riding, and determine whether your vote may be better placed with a candidate who has a chance of winning.

I have a feeling strategic voting may be a factor in this election.

He probably comes across much better in French. He does seem to be lacking in the charisma department. Trying to understand what he says is distracting. I guess you have to focus on his parties policies.

She impressed me also. I heard it said by a commentator that she excelled at attacking Harper, but didn't really present clear reasons to vote for Green. However, I thought she at least showed all the viewers that she belonged at the table in the debate, and was not a kookoo. She was confident, and spoke knowledgably and concisely every time.

Aha...the dreaded "well what would YOU do?" question. That would fuck up any politician though. I think he really didn't understand the question with respect to the timing.

    The hearing impairment? I suppose....

I would have suggested putting up a poll to see which party people would be supporting... then i realized there would probably only be two votes

Well, since it's just you and me...I'm gonna vote Liberal and send a donation to the Green Party. Elizabeth May has said on the party website to vote strategicly if it's close, that the environment is more important than voting for her/her party. That made an impression on me. Liberals are probably just going to steal all her good ideas anyways.

In the past I've voted for green just so they'd get the buck seventy five for their campaign coffers through election financing.

It's a very good point. It's because people didn't vote strategically that the Bloc was the official opposition not long ago.

CBC officially predicts Conservative MINORITY government. A little stronger than before but a minority nonetheless.

It may only be me, but I feel we lag the world by like 3 or 4 years always.

I get that feeling at times as well hb but grass is always greener. Every country has their own set of issues that never seem to get resolved. Different shit, same pile.

How's that for a cliché eh? Hell of a lot better than giving it 110%.
