If I hear you say the word "Maverick" one more time, I'm going to scream.
And, yes, we know you're from Alaska. There is oil there, we get it. You can stop reminding us.![]()

I loved her outfit. But daaaaaayyyyuuummmm did she megafail or what?
Allz I kept thinking about was: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww

She always looks very polished and MILF-y, but I will never be able to forget the Couric interview. I'm sure shes a very nice lady, honestly, but this scene haunts me in my sleep :
Fast forward a year into McCains term as prez- his old ass dies of a massive heart attack or he is left incapacitated my a huge stroke and Sarah Palin is the president.
OH MY GOD.

You betcha!
Enough with the Marge Gunderson imitation!

Someone told me there was going to be a porn movie made with a look a like of her. Imagine, fucking and winking at the camera. haha.

The overuse of "maverick" was killing me too. When you look at some of what she said when it's written down in transcript form it really jumps out at you what a rambling, incoherent mess she was, merely trying to recycle soundbites her debate coaches prepped her with:
Also, John McCain's maverick position that he's in, that's really prompt up to and indicated by the supporters that he has. Look at Lieberman, and Giuliani, and Romney, and Lingle, and all of us who come from such a diverse background of -- of policy and of partisanship, all coming together at this time, recognizing he is the man that we need to leave -- lead in these next four years, because these are tumultuous times.

I'd argue I was more "impressed" with her than I was with Biden. He didn't screw up but I didn't feel like I learned a single thing bout it, although he told me a bunch about Obama and McCain which I already knew.
I say I was "impressed" with her because she didn't fuck up like I think was expected, and I think she was atleast trying to tell me something about her.
Still a boring debate, I wish it had been conversational.

You're impressed that she didn't make a complete ass of herself? lol, after the Couric interview, there was honestly nowhere but up for her.
And theres talk that her hubby really runs the show in Alaska.
Are we really ready to allow ourselves the chance that she could be making major choices for us?
AND how the fuck are other countries going to look at us if she's doing her thing in the White House?
I'm thankful that McCain shot himself in the foot a little here. I'm sure he was trying to get female votes, but most female repub's believe a woman's place is with her kids- esp if she just popped out a special needs child and her daughter has another on the way.

More impressed than Biden talking about Obama and McCain. She had the bar set low but she was certainly over it.
Yeah there's "talk" Obama's a muslim, we all know what's that worth.
I have serious doubts she could fuck us up anymore than we are for the next three years, nobody can.
According to CNN they either won't care, cause there not paying attention, or they'll care about as much as they usually care who is VP, not a lot.
If he though that he was delusions, although I would argue it was more about igniting the base, which it did for sure.
I don't think I would consider merely regurgitating memorized information interspersed with political nonsensical babble a success.
But...if you liked Palin before the debate, you'll be loving her now. I'd like to hear her express her own opinion of things instead of her repeating, almost verbatim, what John McCain has said over the last year or so.
You'd think she would have stronger opinions, being as she reads every and all news sources on the planet.
Palin was not there to talk to the educated people of America. She was there to talk to those who have earned a mention in this thread:

70 million people watched the debate last night. You don't think she didn't have something to do with that? Pronunciation gaffs aside, I think she held herself up well, but really never said anything convincing. To me, she's just too twitchy in front of the camera for me to have confidence in her.
To figure out what middle America sees in SP, think of all the threads we've had on why some men choose to buy dances from everyday girls they see on the street as opposed to the bombshells. Its sorta like that.
Former SCJ now in rehab.

^^
I'd vote for Stewie!

If you go and watch how Sarah Plain spoke in her debates in Alaska...you will see she is just an act. No "gosh darns" "joe six pack" folk stuff like she pulled last night.
Blah not for me...
Her use of "maverick" still has a ways to go before catching up with the mindless bumper sticker chant of "Hope" and "Change" which has been going on ad nauseum for 20 months.
I thought it was a good debate in many ways. Obviously, I am still voting for the McCain/Palin ticket but I came away a bit more comfortable with Biden. If the worst happens and the Dems do win in November, I have a bit of hope that Biden (being a well established and expert politician and hopefully somewhat of a realist ) will be able to rein in Obama from his worst excesses.

Recital isn't a debate.
The purpose of a debate is to DISCUSS issues, and to show people how well you can articulate your stances on the fly. As a debate student for 4 years, I was unimpressed with both on that level. Nobody really challenged each other, and there wasn't much dialog. It was so Q&A, with Sarah not even answering the questions.
"Can I talk about Afghanistan really quick?" Anyone remember when she asked that when they asked her about energy?
I like how Biden laid the constitutional smackdown when she tried to say that as VP she wanted more authority, esp in the legislative branch.
Palin wanted to get in her talking points considering that most of the debates are/will be moderated by liberals where generally an ambush of conservative participants is expected. In this debate however the moderator was fair in my view even though she has a financial stake in Obama winning in terms of her book sales. Like I said earlier I thought it was a good debate. Both candidates on several occasions said they agreed with the others position. And when they disagreed the resultant exchange was professional.
