In addition to our own cats, there are several who eat at the outside bowl.
One is a young female "catten." Another is a grouchy old tomcat with seven toes on each of his front paws and six on each of his back paws.
Both were skinny when they started eating here, but not any more. It was neat when they gained some weight and you could not count every rib. Then the catten really started bulging out. We thought she was just barely out of kittenhood, too young to get pregnant until next spring, but we were wrong.
One day she came by and was skinny again and had nipples and milk. Mrs. UtahMike heard the kittens mewing in a pile of wood in the back yard of the house behind us where nobody seems to live. Then the next day, there was no mewing.
The mother was small and young, and it was late in the year and cold, so we thought that the kittens had died.
Guess what tottered into the yard yesterday? One lone kitten following her mother. And guess what? She (?) has six toes on each of her front paws. Any guesses who daddy is?
We're still going to catch mama and get her spayed, but that sure is the cutest little kitten! She (?) disappeared under a bush, but she'll be back. I held her and she licked some warm milk off my finger, not as much of a scaredy cat as mama, who will come close but will not tolerate being picked up.
Anyone else have polydactyl cats?
