Dispute in th DR! Who was right??

During my audition at a club there was a dispute between 2 dancers. One of the dancers (i'm gonna call her Dancer A) confronted the other (Dancer B) about her asking the customer for a stage tip while she was already talking to him. At this club, the stage is behind the bar (which i think is the dumbest fuckin thing...but whatever..) so u don't get tipped at a tip rail or on stage...u have to go around and make rounds to ur customers to ask for tips.

Now, Dancer A said she was engaging conversation, trying to hustle the customer for a lap, when DANCER B comes over and says "excuse me", interrupting to ask for her tip and then leaving. DANCER A claims that its impolite and distracting to interrupt a dancer in the middle of talking to a customer to ask for a tip. DANCER B claims that as long as she interrupts politely, and then promptly leaves, then it should be no problem.

I personally agree with DANCER B, because if you are hustling a guy and he is supposed to be watching the stage, thats rude on your part. But thats because i'm used to a tip rail and a girl would NEVER approach a guy at the tip rail....thats just common courtesy... how else would girls be tipped for their stage performance???

What do you ladies of SW think??

I think guys should be allowed to tip you while you're on stage. Our stage is behind the bar too, but we're allowed to lean over to take tips from guys when they hold them out. The bartenders also will take tips and lay them on the stage for us.

I've worked in the stage-behind-the-bar clubs and the standard procedure is for the dancer behind the bar to get her tip, no matter who's hustling the customer. That other dancer must be new or smthg, because after you do your set you go up to every single guy for a tip, no matter who's sitting with him.
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

Where I work, there's no other choice but to try to hustle guys who are sitting at the stage, however, the girl onstage (or collecting tips, as the case may be) always has precedence over the hustling girl.

So, I'm gonna go with Dancer B.

^^^ yeah. I've worked at clubs like that up north, its like part of your stage Normally once a girl has her stage, she then walks ontop of the bar collecting tips since you cannot get tips while you are on stage since the bar is the barrier. You like walk around the bar and collect your tips, if a girl is sitting there or not.

However, its ALWAYS worth missing out on the 2 bucks to avoid the bullshit drama.

^true that, i'd prolly skip the $2 if they were deep in conversations, but most girls just bulldoze right through

thats what i always thought which makes this argument weird to me. And the dancer definitely wasn't a new dancer but i guess she was used to a tip rail also. And she was seriously a real bitch, i thought the argument was gonna turn into an actual fight....i hate the DR

I've never worked at a club with a stage behind the bar. But if the bar is essentially the tiprail then I don't think it would be rude for the dancer to get her tip.
And on a side note: If I was dancer A and dancer B was approaching I'd offer to tip her for him. That way she gets her tip, he can see how fun I am, and I open up the opportunity for two girl dances (which I charge more for). I just mention some SS like "OMG that girl is sexy as hell, I get so wet when we dance together!" Of course, this would only be appropriate if your club allows double dances.

Wait, so she just went up to a guy who was sitting at table with a girl and asked for a tip? Or he was sitting at the stage? I'm confused.

I never think it's ok to interrupt when another dancer is already sitting with a guy, especially if they are obviously having a conversation. In fact, I can't imagine a scenario in which I would ever think to do this.

Lol, you're awfully generous. I wouldn't even think to try to sell a double dance. I would MUCH rather have the customer to myself so that I can sell multiples instead of sharing MY money with another girl. And we don't even know if A and B are friends or not. From the way they were arguing, I'm guessing they are not.

It may sound incredibly cold and mercenary, but when I'm at work I look out for #1and that's about it. On occasion, I'll suggest a guy go tip a girl on stage, but I do not go out of my way to share my hustle with other girls.

he was sitting at the bar that goes around the stage (the bar, like with alcohol) since the girls cant get to the custys til they get off the stage, they go around the bar asking for tips after each set

I don't see where she said that. She said the girls go around the club after their stage set because there is no tip rail. I took that to mean that they go to the tables and everything.

If the custie is sitting at the bar (in stage-behind-bar clubs), he should be tipping. No matter what.

If he wants to deep in conversation he should be sitting elsewhere, getting a dance, or in the VIP room.

I recently worked at a club like this (I fucken hated it), and it was considered proper etiquette for the custy to tip whoever was coming around for her tips. It wasn't like the girl going around was trying to steal the custy and ask him for a dance, just saying "Hi, just coming by for my tip, thank you" or something like that. If that is what is expected its definitely not rude.

I agree that its stupid to argue for $1, but you guys know how some girls in this industry are obsessed with being "respected" by the other girls and not being made to look like chumps.

I worked at my first club last night that is exactly like this! the stage is behind the bar(ugh) and we have to walk around and get our tips. it was annoying.
I would ask the guys who were with girls when I was done... I would just politely say "sorry to interrupt" and then collect my tip...the other girls did the same. that's just how things work in this type of club and I think the girl complaining was being silly.

Would you mind adding one more clarification? Do the dancers get off of the stage and go around on the inside of the bar for tips, or do they come out from behind the bar and collect tips while walking the floor area?

at my club dancers are not allowed to approach customers who are sitting at the stage. it's a good rule and stops these type of disputes from happening.

Even if you talked to the guy about a dance while you were on stage? That's one of my best ways of getting privates. I do the majority of my selling from the stage.

I've worked at many clubs with the stage behind the bar (very common in Queens and the Bronx). I personally hate it but whatever.

Anyway, I feel like it's ok for a girl to come up to the custy while she's on stage and ask for a tip even if I'm sitting with him. Sitting at the bar is equivalent to sitting at the tip rail and I actually encourage my customers to tip the girls as they come by.

Also, when I am the girl up on stage, I encourage the customers to tip not just me, but also the girl that's sitting with them. Every club is different, but it's usually ok to approach for a tip, though not ok to start hustling them for a dance if a girl is sitting there.
