Default Republicans try to ban Obama gear at polls

HARRISBURG, Pa. (Oct. 4) - Sue Nace thought election volunteers were joking when they told her she would have to remove her T-shirt to vote in the presidential primary last spring.

But it was no laughing matter to the poll workers-turned-fashion police, who said Nace's Obama shirt was inappropriate electioneering — and made her cover the writing before casting a ballot.

Now, a political fight over what voters can wear to the polls is headed to court in Pennsylvania — with the Republican Party favoring a dress code and Democrats opposed.

As I recall most states have a 50 yard ban on any political advertising near the polls. A t-shirt definitely falls into that category.

Nice spin on how it is the mean ole republicans fault when it is a law that has been around for years.

^^ And so do BUMPER STICKERS.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

Apparently that isn’t true in FL. Check out debunked rumor #2 here

Do the rules regarding this issue vary by State?

Rules vary state-to-state. My state bars any cmpaigning withing a certain distance of the polling station.

As for blaming the Republicans, why would they care what voters wore to a Democratic primary last Spring? Most conservatives wanted to see Obama win the primary because they see what a flawed candidate he truly is.

So why is he so far ahead in the polls?

In the first place, the polls are all over the place, so I wouldn't claim he "is so far ahead". He probably is ahead, but that is because McCain is such a shitty candidate. He refuses to confront Obama on issues central to his character and ideology. I'm so tired of hearing "my friends" out of McCain's mouth. I want to hear about Obama's friends from Obama's mouth. His inner circle consists of people who physically attack America ( Ayers and Dorn ), verbally attack America ( Wright and Farrakhan ) , plunder America ( Johnson and Raines ), and lie to America ( Dodd and Fwank ). These people ( and Obama ) don't belong anywhere near the White House.

Besides, he seems to be having a problem "closing the deal" like he did in the primaries. It seems the more people look at him, the less they trust him. His problem is he doesn't have superdelegates to push him over the hump here. McCain is all but handing him the Presidency and he can't put it away.

Tee-hee. Obama sucks because he winning but he's not blowing McCain out by 20 percentage points (even though he is at 345 EV's as of today)? That's funny. Have you taken a look at 538 recently? Obama actually is doing very very well.

Obama sucks because Obama sucks. The fact he can't put away a lame-ass candidate like McCain just goes to how weak he really is. BTW, he doesn't have a single EV yet. Nobody does.

Just don't do it in public. You will certainly get arrested for indecent exposure.

I plan to be gone on vacation on election day so I will be voting early. I am going to wear a McCain/Palin pin for shits and giggles to see if they say anything.

So, who do you consider to be a good candidate?

Don't count on it. It's apparently only Obama gear that is not allowed so you should be safe.

Certainly neither of these two. Romney and Fred Thompson were sorta OK, but IMO every President or presidential candidate in my lifetime has paled in comparison to Reagan.

I'm intrigued by people who support(ed) Thomson, what are your reasons? Just to clarify, I'm not making fun of you or anything, I really want to know. Just like I want to know why people support(ed) Ron Paul.

Fred Thompson is a straight-line conservative. McCain is less appealing because he is a RINO - Republican In Name Only. Thompson ran a horrible campaign though. it didn't appear as though his heart was in it. That being said, there was no one I was gaga over. To me, Thomson had the least wrong with him.

Which specific policies of Fred Thompson do you support?

How is McCain a RINO when he voted with the Republicans over 90% of the time?

I believe in the policies of conservatism. Thompson seemed to me to represent those better than anyone else in the race, though he admittedly ran one of the worst campaigns among a bunch of other really bad campaigns.

As far as your 90% statistic, remember that there is a difference ( especially now ) between being a conservative and being a Republican. The current Republican party, including McCain, do not practice conservatism.

I saw people wearing McCain stuff when I went to vote in the Primary so I know they do it too but yet I have not heard of a signle McCain supporter being told they can't vote. It seems like it's only Obama voters who are dealing with this stuff. So that got me thinking- have there been any stories of McCain voters having these same troubles when they wear their campaign gear?

What you had in the primary was a situation where Democrats were preventing each other from showing visible support for a candidate at the polls. It had nothing to do with McCain or the Republicans.
