Default What's the minimum I need to be able to do in my heels for an audition?

I know stripping isn't about dancing, and the club I want to audition at doesn't even have a pole I believe. But what's the minimum I need to know how to do before I audition? I can walk straight in heels, and sway my hips back and forth, turn around without falling over and slip out of a gown with relative grace - will this get me through an audition or should I go to the club and study the dancers, come home and practice? Will knowing how to "dance" give me a significant edge in getting hired? I'm worried that if I focus a lot on learning how to dance it might actually make me more nervous. As always, thank you for the invaluable advice.

ps. When auditioning at a high end gown club I don't need to bring music or have music picked out, right? I'm assuming I'll just dance to whatever's playing?

If you have the chance, definitely go watch the other girls dance. If the "audition" isn't just "get naked in the back room and spin around" then you'll be asked to get on stage and dance to a couple songs. Just make sure you can crouch, get to your knees, GET UP, etc. You'll find your niche once you do it for a while.

Bring music just in case. Couldn't hurt. Good luck!!

Definitely go check the club out and see what the other dancers do before you audition that way you know what you need to work on.

Also bring a couple cds with you just in case, i know some clubs dont have music for you its better to be safe than sorry, also some clubs even if they have music on a computer will let you bring in cds you like to dance to.

Ok, I'll definitely go check out the club first, so that I'm as well prepared as possible. I appreciate the help, ladies.

PS. lovely_leila, I love your name! If I have a daughter I'm naming her "Leila"
