If You Know About PS3s...
I'm looking to get a PlayStation 3 for my boyfriend for his upcoming b-day. I want to know what size hard drives ya'll have and if it's really important to get a higher one or if the lower will do? Obviously I'm stuck between 40 and 80 gigs .. I'm not sure why you would even need that kind of memory on a game station, but I want advice from gamers. TAKING ANY AND ALL ADVICE! lol

Re: If You Know About PS3s...
Does your boyfriend have the PS2? Because I don't think the PS3 40 gig will play playstation 2 games.. I know some versions of the 80 gig is compatible with PS2 games.. If you still can get it, the 60 gig is supposed to be "better" because it plays almost all PS2 games without any issues. It's discontinued but you can probably still find it somewhere.. This way your bf will have the choice of getting PS2 games as well..

Re: If You Know About PS3s...
^I thought the 80 gig was supposed to play ps2 games so sony could make more money (cuz it's more expensive than the 40) .. aw I'm so confused. Maybe if I can find a 60 somewhere. We don't have any games at all, so it's not like we'll be working from a collection of ps2 games or anything, but just in case, I'd like him to have options.

Re: If You Know About PS3s...
Both the 60gb and 80 gb have two extra USB ports (not terribly exciting- On a games machine I can only imagine using them to charge controllers) and a memory card slot (useful if you are going to be putting pics/music etc on the ps3).
The 80GB is backwards compatible as has been said. I find ps2 games are available sooo cheap these days so it might be a good choice if he is going to be playing older games.
If it is purely going to be used as a games console I would save money and go for the 40gb. If he is going to use it for other things then 60GB.
80GB seems like a total waste to me.
