Default Total Newbie in New York City...

I live in NYC and attend college here, and I've been interested in giving stripping a go for a long, long time, and finally have decided I'm gonna give it a go. However, I'm a little scared about my first time being in such a crazy place. What are some decent places to work in the city where decent money can be made without too much craziness? How does the audition process work? What do you walk around in offstage? How can you learn to give a good lap dance?

I know these are dumb, really basic questions, but I've never done anything like this before.

I started in NYC at Private Eyes, during the dayshift. I made 350-700 regularly during a shift. Its pretty straightforward, the management isn't skeezy. Some of the girls are doing some weird shit there, but they're very nice and helpful for the most part.

It isn't the most glamourous club in NYC, but its pretty low on the shady-scale for the city.

For an audition, they put you up on stage for a song. You dance in your dress for 15-20 seconds, then you take it off and dance in a thong for the rest of the song. When you're done, you're hired as long as you aren't horribly disfigured or completely stupid on stage.

The guys at this club are pretty nice, they're all businessmen who've been coming there for a while. (Well, at least thats what the dayshift is).

If you are nervous maybe try some NJ clubs first? Then after you're not such a newbie anymore go for a good upscale NYC club.

The problem is I don't really have a way of getting to NJ, especially not regularly. Wish I did!

Aubreyyy, thank you for the advice, I'm gonna PM you with a few more specific questions.

Pippi... check out the search function in Club Chat... if you look up New York, NYC, or better still, the name of the club you're looking to try out at... you will get a lot of info.

Noooooo I auditioned did pretty well on stage got tons of compliments and could have gotten hired but I just made my money for the night and left...the place is a dive. All the customers were ass holes! I mean utter and complete ass holes, I could even begin to tell you the shit I've been through...I'm kinda turned off stripping for good. I know not all clubs are like this but all things happen for a reason and I just don't think I can handle the bullshit!

Just to tell you little piece of the b.s. that goes on in there I started to give a custie a lap dance and he yoked me up by the neck and pulled my outfit so hard the garter straps flung off...my neck still hurts...I wanted to masacre that bastard but I held my composure. And that was just some of the bullshit I went through!

Shit, girl. I hope you told the bouncers about that so they could throw him out. WTF makes him think he can do that?

That kind of thing should NOT normally happen in clubs. All of but twice I have always felt safe in my club, granted that the bouncers aren't idiots/worthless. Don't keep your composure next time. Knee him in the balls and have the big guys finish him up.

Hah. My experience with NYC bouncers was very different. Usually money talks and the customer is always right.

If I were to hit a guy, I would get in trouble... I would probably even get fired. If a guy grabbed my neck and choked me he might get a warning.

I just started working in NYC. I'm a college student too. I pretty much got a list of recommendations from friends (Rick's Cabaret, Lace, Hustler Club, Penthouse), called the first place on the list and was hired the next day.

I did go out and buy shoes ($60), a gown ($100) and a g-string ($15). Not a dress I'd buy now, but at least I had something to work in that first week.

I had the good fortune to watch another girl audition first. She did a set of 2 songs, one with dress and one without, and basically wiggled and shimmied a little while running her hands over herself. I was like, that's all? I can do that.

There was a heart-sinking moment when they sent her off to the house mom and then turned to me to break the bad news, but it was just that I'd have to take out my piercings.

I think if you could go to a club once, look at the girls and get a lapdance, it would make you less nervous. But I was fine without it. You learn by watching. And you won't be working that first night anyway.

Oh, to actually answer your questions:

I am trying to figure out where the money is, too. I think I have been making a good average at Rick's, but it's so hard to tell what that ought to be. The girls seem to like the place and speak well of it.

You wear gowns on the floor and strip to your g-string for lapdances or stage.

Low-contact lapdancing isn't as trick-heavy as the stuff you see in movies. It's lots of moving slowly and sensually with eye contact.

Earning potential: Penthouse (though there are many questions on the club in general - do a search), Hustler (I used to work there), Scores (closed - the location has been bought by Saphire's), then Rick's and Lace.. (IMO)
