    Default Ugh Stuck in a rut!!

    Hi ya dolls


    Okay I have been having a little issue with my workouts. I am stuck in a rut...


    I have kicked up my cardio from the usual 45 minutes to an hour but now I'm sick of running so any suggestion? I still want that running result if possible. I do jump rope 300 turns..

    Have you tried an elliptical? That kicks my ass more than running ever could.

    Also, if you don't already, try interval training. With intervals, you burn more calories in the same amount of time. I find it more challening, and it makes my workout go by faster (and can be used for any form of cardio)

    So you would warm up at a jog, then you would run at an easy pace (say like a 6 on the level of exertion) for 2 minutes, then sprint for one, easy pace for 2, sprint for one, and so on.

    It burns way more calories than maintaining a steady pace for a longer time.

    i second both of the above answers. my gym has a class called body combat, which is basically a mix of various martial arts packed into a high impact cardio class. they say you can burn 800 cals in a class. of course, that depends on your starting weight and how much effort you put forth, too.

    i usually use the elliptical on the alpine prog, which basically is interval training.

    do you mean you run in the gym for an hour? depending on the weather, it might be more fun to run outside if you have nice scenery, or even if you don't.

    this trainer at the gym told me that too much cardio makes your boobs smaller... I wonder if this is true.

    ^ probably a little bit. we do store fat in our boobs. cardio burns fat and the face and the boobs are the first places the body likes to drain fat from.

GymGirl: High Intensity Interval training is the thing you should be doing, your pretty much wasting your time with all those mins on cardio when more calories can be burned by getting your heart rate up to 80-90% capacity 4 times at 4 min interval with 3 min cool downs in between. Spin class is a good example.
