    Default Natural Pole Dancers

Ok, I figure I'm not the best dancer, but I've taken a pole dancing class and am saving up for another class and my own pole... However... it makes me so frustrated when I see a new girl pick up pole dancing really fast and seemingly naturally! Arg! I have to spend money and hours with an instructor but somehow this new chick can just watch me and steal the few tricks I can actually pull off and make them look better!? WTF!? I know I don't "own" any pole tricks but I can't help but be a little ticked off when that is blatantly what she did... I've heard of other girls complaining when this happens but I just laughed it off... now I see why it's annoying! Obviously this is just a rant, so no need for poo throwing.

are you doing any different tricks or just basic ones?
because if you're just doing basic ones how do you know she is taking those tricks from you?

I wish I could do pole tricks... I want my own pole so I can learn. :-(

Meh, I'm not really that upset. I'm just having one of those bitch-fest days! I've been chatting with her a lot recently so I know that she supposedly didn't know any pole tricks before she worked there, and I've watched her pick it up FAST. But oh well, it's not like it's going to thwart my plans for world domination or anything.

Whilst being understandably miffed i always took comfort in the fat that whilst those girls were killing themselves learning and perfecting and sweating over the pole i was doing just fine with my half a dozen pole moves and making far more money out of private dances

I naturally picked up the pole because I did gymnastics in high school and loved being upside down and found it thrilling.. I should totally be in cirque de soleil! I only do it when we have a crowd now but it was all about getting the proper muscle tone and it has a lot to do with gymnastics which I loved.

PS it doesn't really bring any more money unless you work at a mostly stage club. I do it because I enjoy it and its like a novelty act.

Some of the biggest moneymakers I have ever worked with hardly touch the pole at all, and do no tricks whatsoever. I have also worked with many women who pretty much didn't dance, they did pole tricks and that's about it. It's often impressive but not necessarily graceful.

What's sexy is the physical rhythm and flowing motion of dance, whether you are upside down on a pole or getting into the music onstage 10 feet away from it.

It's good for getting the guys' attention, and for your own self-confidence, but you don't really need the tricks to get their attention or be confident, either. So don't let this feeling limit you, that's entirely unnecessary.

They might've had previous experience dancing (tap, jazz, ballet) or w/gymnastics, like someone else mentioned. Some people just pick things up that are physical better than others. I'm sure you're naturally better at other things.

haha, watching new girls pick up pole trick easily annoys me too since it took me months just to learn how to climb the damn thing. I even had a pole at home and would practice and still have a lot of trouble. I kind of know what you mean about girls "stealing" your moves. At another club, I managed a trick that I saw another girl do at a club a year before and had never seen any girls at my then current club perform then and it seemed like as soon as I did the trick, the other girls were like "oh yea, I forgot about that trick!" and started doing it. I wasn't mad or anything but I was just really excited that I could do it and then other girls just did it with ease.

It bothers me to no end! I almost never took to the pole, and to learn tricks bruised, cut and nearly killed me. Yes, I fell off the damn thing. A lot. It took almost a year before I could even do a lay back.

Then some new girl who's been in heels for about a week asks how I did it, climbs up there effortlessly and hangs like a freaking bat. It's almost embarassing.

Alot of women in the clubs I have worked at do absolutely nothing on the pole and still make great money--I think it just depends on the individual.

I don't know how to dance 'sexily' without doing polework...so in my own scenario, I've found that unless my performance is packed with tons of pole tricks, my stage tips suck

I never do pole tricks. I can but it has no impact on my income... I may do one in my show to catch the attention of the crowd - but thats rare...

I used to wear myself out doing pole tricks and found after years that its just not worth it - not to mention Im not as young as I once was... doing pole tricks does not a stripper make you.

I worked with a girl that just had natural movement with a pole and no one taught her anything she just picked up. Some people can do it and others can't. I taught it a lot for the girls at my club that were intrested. I do it because of the ballet and figure skating I had, grace is something I've trained with for years it comes to me easily. You will do fine if you want to keep learning them. Everything takes lots of practice. I am sure you will do just fine.

Pineapple juice help you not bruise.
When I got my chest done my doctor told me to drink pineaple juice before hand and after and I didn't have any bruising at all from the surgury.
I tell all my students in my pole classes to drink pineapple juice. It seems to work in warding off the evil purple bruise.

Yeah, there's a chick at my club who has only danced for 3 months, and she blows everyone out of the water with pole tricks. She's absolutely amazing to watch, I can't keep my eyes off her when she's on stage. I think she's just one of those people who is more physically capable than others...she's all muscle-ly and studies martial arts and shit. I don't think she makes much money, though...once you get past her physical brilliance she isn't much for conversation, and is really awkward with customers. So, ya know, pole tricks aren't everything. (Just re-iterating what other people have said.^^)

I used to feel this way. I spent six months compiling most of my pole tricks, almost exclusively by observing others and figuring it out myself. I got really frustrated when one girl picked up tons of tricks I could do, but after some of my dancer-mentors pointed out how dumb it was (I don't own the tricks, and copying me doesn't take away my money) I chilled out.

Trust me, I know how you feel, but just let it go, and know that she can copy your pole tricks but never your personal touch

Or that starting with no upper body strength is ok, so long as you work hard. I got so much stronger thanks to pole. I never realized how weak I was until I was able to lift myself up with my arms!

Also, pole came pretty naturally for me once I stopped pissing myself over being upside-down. For some reason, I sucked at gymnastics (scared of flips, etc) but love doing crazy shit when some part of my body is connected to a bit of metal

I used to do a ton of pole tricks. In my later years of dancing I stopped doing them because it really was justa waste of energy. Every now and them I will do them to attract some attention but more often then not it just attracts the attention of a girl .. "ooh howd you do that, I didnt know you could do that .. can you teach me to do that???"
Sorry but I didnt come to work to teach you how to do a pole trick. I need to go hustle. The more time I am on the pole, the less time I am on the floor collecting my money heheheh

I agree with pretty much everything Djoser said

Pole tricks become more advantageous to your earning potential if you are able to pull them off with constant flow and poise.

Instead of jumping straight into full blown pole tricks, start with the gentle moves such as body waves and spins (the one where you use your arms to circle the pole, not legs). Then when you're confident with those, start incorporating a few leg spins before moving onto the harder moves such pole climbing and holds. And if you're ever stuck for more moves, there's always floorwork!
