Ehh, were sorry your entire town got blown away by a tornado and all, but your 18 months are up. Of course for $667/month you can continue to live in our crappy formaldehyde ridden trailers.

How long should it be?
The city council has been dragging ass.
Complicated story there.
I think it sucks but like those people said - its been 18 months. How long does it take to build a house? Im not understanding. Theyve had 18 months to save and rent or buy or build or whatever with no rent at all but did these people think theyd be able to live rent free forever? Where is the responsibility of the people? How long is FEMA supposed to support people? 1 year? 2? 10?
I do think the rent is a bit much without so much as a warning like I dunno, at the one year mark so give them time to make a plan. Or to start low and have it on some kind of a sliding scale or something...

Till they finish their houses would be nice. Insurance companies tend to drag ass too sometimes. And much like wars, disaster recovery can't exactly be put on a timeline.
I mean, the government has money for all those earmarks they've attached to the bailout bill, what's another quarter to half million in lost rent over the next 4-6 months until these folks have a livable domicile.
Really, I have no problem with the idea of making them pay rent, even from the get-go, but $667/mo in small town Kansas will easily rent you two trailers, or a very nice house. I guess they need those things down in Galveston really bad.
