    Default wisdom teeth

OW. So I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled yesterday. They were broken and had nerves exposed and were causing unimaginable pain. Now I'm swollen(though apparently only on the inside...I dont LOOK very swollen) and OW OW OW. But I desperately need money so hubby can come with me on my trip on Fri. I'll be very sad without him esp since I'll be stuck there by myself for 2 days before my flight to my next booking and I dont want to go sightseeing alone.

So...my speech is a bit off from the swelling, but I guess guys will just think I have a speech impediment or I'm drunk! As long as nobody touches my face..at which point I will punch them silly...and I take my pain meds..I should be ok ..right?????

You should be fine as long as you take the prescribed meds. Do you drink and/or smoke? I remember when I got mine taken out, the doctor told me that smoking might lead to dry socket so it should be avoided, I don't remember what he said about alcohol.

Probably until the incisions heal a little. I'd give it about a week.

I was fine after mine were taken out. The doc gave me some codeine and antibiotics. I was pretty sore for about two days, and had trouble sleeping for one night, but after that, things were fine. I even took a road trip to Cape Cod (with a buddy driving, since I was slightly doped up) three days after. Follow the directions to the letter, even if they seem like overkill. The last thing you want are complications. You should be fine, though. Hope you make the necessary funds for the trip

Make sure every time you smoke (if you can) to put the gauze on the sockets. Try to keep your mouth somewhat closed to keep them in place, then go rinse out your mouth with mouthwash when you're done. I folded the gauze over a couple of times to make it thick enough to cover both on each side. This would be hard to do at work, but I wouldn't smoke otherwise. You will get dry sockets and it's gonna hurt like hell. Worse then what it feels like right now. I smoke, and I smoked after I had mine pulled and I was fine, because I did the gauze and mouthwash thing. I was warned by a friend who got really bad dry sockets because she smoked without the gauze, so I made damn sure to follow her instructions.

I also kept the gauze on constantly for like 5 days, while replacing them with fresh ones every 5-6 hours, except when sleeping. And yeah I wouldn't drink with a straw for like 2 weeks. But that's just my opinion.

I had four removed at once, and two of them were impacted.. I was swollen for about two days, I smoked too, but I smoked less than usual. (I probably should have used that time to try to quit...) anyways, I ate lots of applesauce and jello and soup... I don't know why but I had yellow type bruising on one side of my face and my lip was split on the side. I went under to get them pulled so the oral surgeon probably was being rough since I wouldn't know what happened.

I only took T3s for one day..

You'll be fine! I don't like sightseeing alone either.. but maybe you can get a good book or something and go out to like a cafe and just read a bit. it'll probably feel good to get out and walk around.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled out a few years ago.

I didn't smoke at the time so I can't advise on that.

But, the pain meds made me SOOOOO nauseous!!!!! On the first day, I took the pain meds and had a bowl of tomato soup. My stomach turned and I got up to run to the bathroom. I almost made it but the freakin' door was closed!, I reached for the knob, and throw up red soup all over the bathroom door. I tossed the medications after that. It felt so much better to heal without meds then to feel like barfing all the time.

I changed my gauze frequently and doubled up the wad to absorb the blood and saliva. It took about two days for the swelling to go down...

you had stitches? wow! I had mine pulled in May and then right after that went storm chasing with my boyfriend. I feel for you. I didn't swell but I could hardly open my mouth for about a week and a half. I didn't drink from a straw for 2 weeks. What's funny is I also figure skate and 3 days after I had them out I went skating. Good luck on your booking.

takes about a good 10 days to heal....don't poke at where they were or stuck through a straw....and try not to smoke, if you do, rinse everytime with salt water rinse. you do not want dry socket...it's the worst pain! just keep the area clean, don't poke around (tryin to clean in the holes) and no suction.

    you'll be fine...

Omg they're probably healed by now did you get dry sockets? OMG!!! I smoked before my surgery as in like the day of right b4 I went in, but after the surgery I did not smoke and I STILL got them. Getting them "packed" with that gauze was probably the most agonizing thing I've ever had to do.....
