I've gained some weight recently, so before it becomes a problem (i.e. a lot of weight) I'm determined to lose it and get back to my optimal fitness level. To do this, I'm examining my exercise and diet.
In general, I get enough exercise in the form of cardio and moderate weight training. Although I've slacked off a bit since the semester started, I'm stepping up my exercise.
Looking at my diet, I eat pretty damn well. I'm a pescatarian, eat lots of vegetables, and no dairy except for yogurt. I also have Celiac disease so I can't eat wheat, white flour, barley, rye, etc. But in examining how I eat, I realized I do one thing VERY wrong : I eat late at night. Sometimes a lot. I eat high-calorie foods like peanut butter on rice cakes or bananas, almonds, etc.
This is a bad habit I developed in high school 4-5 years ago, which wasn't such a problem when I weighed 90 lbs. But now, it's really not helping my body, and it's making me feel out of control and ashamed. I feel like I'm sabotaging myself every time I do this.
Does anyone else have this problem of eating at night? How did you break this habit? What deals or agreements did you make with yourself so that you stopped doing this? I really need help! Thank you!
