    Default after the baby.....

ok this might seem like a no brainer but ....pre-pregnancy i maintained a size 3 for years after my first daughter ( i went from 110 to 208 had a 7 lb 6 ounce baby ) at the age of 17 . i feel i got lucky ...very lucky lol as "fat genes" run in my family lol and the only battle scars i got from that are maybe 6 very unnoticible stretch marks three of which are covered by a tattoo and my naturally big breasts sag a little ( i breastfed ) i lost a lot of volume with her and thats what scares me most im 3 1/2 months pregnant and have no intention of gaining 100 fucking pounds and i guess what i wanna know is how do i maintain my figure through this pregnancy w/o harming my baby and what did you girls do to get back in shape after baby? how long did you wait to go back to dancing ...anything i can do now?

I am also curious. I plan on having a baby hopefully soon and would like to hear other women's comments. I wish we had a section for working moms/babies.

I was 122 lbs at 7 weeks pregnant. 1 week before I had my daughter I weighed 167....so I gained a total of 45 lbs. Oh, and I also only 5'4", so in my opinion I looked like a beached whale. Size wise; I was a 5 before and during most of my pregnancy, I ended up being a size 8 right before I delivered. 2 weeks after I have my daughter I was fitting into a size 2. (Now I know how that may sound unhealthy b/c I means I dropped all of my weight plus some very quickly but everyone is different......), then over time as I got adjusted to being a new mom, a gained a little bit of weight back. This time last year I weighed about 140-145 lbs. I actually just weighed myself yesterday and I am back down to 122-125 lbs. So I guess my weight constantly fluctuates.

First off, understand that a weight gain of 25-35 lbs is normal for a normal (one child) pregnancy. I think the best thing you can do is watch what you eat, continue to work out (unless told otherwise by your doctor), and in general just do things that are healthy. Understand that everyone is different and while one person might look a certain way after having a baby, you may not and thats ok. Don't compare to others, especially not right now!!

Don't use the pregnancy as an excuse to be a lazy arse that pigs out constantly on "cravings".
Keep doing the things you usually do (including physical activites) , eat the same healthy foods you usually do. Pregnancy isn't an illness.

I weighed 98 pounds before I got pregnant and gained 40 by the end of my pregnancy and although it sounds like a lot, I actually only had a few stretchmarks on the side of my stomach, and more on my butt. After I had my daughter I stayed at about 120 pounds the whole time I breastfed (7 months) and then when I stopped I started losing more weight. Now I weigh 102, which is normal for me because I've always been thin. All in all I thinked things worked out good weight wise, it was my boobs that had the problem. They're kinda sagging and smaller now then they were before I got pregnant!

I would suggest eating healthy, full meals, and still keeping active. Walking is safe for pregnant women, as well as yoga and they make exercises specifically for pregnant women, so take advantage. Also, after you have the baby continue to work out, just a little harder! I pole danced after I had my daughter and did a lot of crunches. You can also jog the baby in the stroller!

    Good luck!

Honestly, I don't really know. I do know that it was difficult to find the time to eat myself, so I was eating less then I had while pregnant. I believe that was a big part of it. I wish I had taken pics of my body within hours of delivery b/c it was unreal. I remember watching "a baby story" and those shows and seeing the women come home after the baby and still look pregnant. Pretty much as soon as my daughter was out, my stomach was completely flat again but "squishy".
I also believe that your genes play a big part as well.

I had a healthy pregnancy, but I only gained 19 lbs. I didn't get any strechmarks, which is usually a genetic trait, my mom/grandma/aunts don't have strechmarks either.

I started at (5'6) 128 & topped off at 147. My son was 9 lbs 2 oz (big baby) & then of course there was the placenta, another few pounds. I was back at 128 within four days of delivery. I opted for depo-provera, despite the horror stories of weight gain after delivering, but it had the adverse effect on me. I lost A LOT of weight after I delivered. By three weeks post-partum, I was down to 109. If you see my frame, this was NOT a good look for me. I also had post partum depression, which attributed to my weight loss as well.

Obviously, these aren't tips to help you with your weight loss post partum, or how to maintain a healthy weight during pregnancy. You're pregnancy is often times a reflection of other women in your family. Speak with your doctor, make sure you're maintaining a healthy lifestyle for baby first.

There are plenty of pregnant fitness classes offered nowadays, I'd say give that a shot too.

About 5 weeks. I personally think I went back a bit too early. It all depends on how you feel, how your delivery was, if you had a C-section, etc.

I gained 42 lbs and went back after 3 months.... way too early for me. I was still breast feeding and getting in a routine w my baby. It took me about 7 months to lose all the weight and now that she's a year old I really feel all the way back to my old self again. I would even still like to lose 5 more....
Please just take your time. Not everybody comes out of the delivery room 30 lbs lighter or is ready to go back to work 6 weeks after giving birth. When I was pregnant I got kind of obsessed about how quickly I could lose the weight, go back to work etc. Looking back if someone would have told me that it would be a year before I felt 100% hot , I would have freaked, but the year went by so quick . I got my body right at my own pace and was still able to enjoy life with my child

I'm 5 ft 4 and was 135 before my daughter. I blew up to a whopping 205!! But I hear preeclampsia (sp?) may have something to do with that...

Anyway, I walked everyday. Strolled my kid around everywhere. I took random pics of things to keep me wanting to go out and walk. Also, I didn't eat past 8o'clock and drank lots of water. The little bit of yoga I did helped too, I'm sure. Never really had a routine going though... Breastfeeding also helps you drop weight... ALOT! Also, if you plan to breastfeed, I would suggest taking fenugreek and eating lots of oatmeal. They both increase milk production, and oatmeals great for weight loss.

Now my kid is 2 and I've just gone back to dancing about 2 months ago. I'm back down to 140 now. I'm pretty sure the extra weight went to my boobs. And feet. lol.

I think that you should go back whenever you feel comfortable enough with your body and sitter arrangements.

Doesn't fenugreek make your sweat smell like maple syrup?? My co-workers are really into fenugreek--but I thought it was yet another thing that nursing mothers couldn't take

In response to the topic: Are you into pole tricks? Polework is actually an excellent way to work out!

^^ I feel you-i was the same way! My boobs are not super saggy tho, they're just smaller and a little saggier. Everyone I kno who didn't breastfeed ended up with nicer boobs tho, so you'll have to decide whether you want to breastfeed or have nice boobs! Also, if you workout hard and focus on your belly you should be fine, it does take time tho, and I still haven't gotten to the point where I love my stomach, which is why i'm not dancing now.

actually if I would have been serious about exercising, instead of being a lazy bum I probably would have a nice stomach! All I did was pole dance and you need to do more than that!

Oh yea and I forgot I ate like a pig all day, everyday because I was worried my daughter wouldn't get enough nutrients/calories while Breastfeeding! I actually gained weight the whole 7 months of nursing her, but dropped all the weight a little while after I stopped.
