    Default Curious about privacy issues

Does anyone know if it is possible to search databases and find out who is a dancer by searching their real name? Do you know who has access to any databases that link you to being a stripper?

My ex boyfriend is soon to be a federal cop in Canada. Is he going to be able to see that I was a stripper if he looks up my name?

Can employers in Canada do any searches to see this? (I'm graduating this year)

If I ever want to work in Government in Canada, is it on file that I was a stripper?

I tried to do some google searches, but haven't been able to figure out the answers to any of these questions.

That's bad news I just went and got my license a few days ago. I feel like it's far too easy to get WAY too much information on people nowadays. No such thing as privacy I suppose.

If someone does a back ground check on you they would be able to tell that I have an adult entertainers license.

This is one of the reasons that I refuse to dance anywhere requiring a license. When I decide that I'm ok with the whole world knowing I'm a stripper, then I'll broaden my horizons.

Well.. that's good and bad. Not everywhere needs a background check, and wouldn't refusing to hire you because you were a dancer a form of discrimination? School is crazy expensive now, and I'm glad I danced. I have very little debt, and was able to work two days a week and keep my GPA high.

We'll see when I graduate this year if it gets in the way of my future... I hope not.

It would be discrimination in certain jobs where it's irrelevant, but any job involving kids is out if you're a dancer (with a paper trail).

I'm pretty sure that there are some laws and rights to privacy in the Canadian legal system, that protect you from employer discrimination. The good thing is that there are alot of laws forcing government employers in Canada to hire an equal percentage of women and minorites, the Canadian legal system is progressive in the sense that there are new laws being made consistently to protect people from employer discrimination and dsicrimination in general.
It would only make sense that there are laws that protect you from this kind of discrimination, just do some internet research on the "e-laws" database if your in Ontario and similar cites if your in another province.
Any employer that refuses to hire you based on the knowledge that you were a dancer with out your knowledge, will be sorry, they will probaly be losing out on someone who could be the best employee they ever hired, you learn alot about how to interact with people, develop empathy and be a diligent worker in the club world.

Sorry to divert, but I assume this only applies if you have a license? And it would follow that because I don't have a license (geez, what states require that?!), no one would be able to look me up anywhere, right?

As long as you have filed taxes as a model, or something like that and NOT as a "dancer", you should be fine.
