I just had to post this ! I swear sometimes my life feels like it's a crazy reality show. This is my latest adventure or misadventure depending on how you look at it.
My niece wanted to volunteer at the local animal shelter, so after school I stopped by it so we could get more information. Of course that turned into us bringing a new pet home. It was a cute teacup chihuahua mix, it had a few health issues and we wanted to help it recover. I was wondering what the dog's story was because it's rare to see those types of pets at the shelter. I later found out it had been returned by another person who adopted it because she didn't get along with the person's other dog.
Anyway, once we got the dog into our car she quickly snuggled into my niece's lap and we drove home. A few days had passed and she really started
to warm up to us. But, I still felt like something wasn't right about the situation. We had her for a little over a week when one day we run into someone claiming to be the original owner, she asked where we got the dog from and I told her. The woman asks me if she can hold the dog and I reluctantly said yes. I honestly wasn't sure what her angle was and if she'd try to take off with the dog.
Well after the chick held her the dog went nuts with excitement, it was obvious she was the rightful owner. Never being in a situation like that before I told her I thought it was best to handle everything at the humane society and go from there. The lady explained to me that she had been in the hospital, her friend was watching the dog and she ran away to look for her. After hearing that story, I decided to just get the money that I'd paid for her and go to the pound on Monday.
The owner asks her SO if he had $70 to give me, he didn't. We ended up meeting at the store after I ran errands and she went home to get the $$.
When she got there she broke into tears and confessed that she actually left the dog with a friend while she went on a drug binge, that she's been clean for 3 weeks and she now had something to live for since she got her dog back. So she's crying, I'm crying and were all in awe of the what we see unfolding before us. I mean there were so many things that went hay wire that day that caused me to be where I was when I ran into her in the first place. So the moment ended with me telling her that a higher power has something in store for her and not to let this moment slip away.
She promises me she won't.
When we got back home and saw the bed we bought the dog and her little outfits, the reality of what happened really starts to sink in. We all have mixed emotions, on the one hand we're happy to have reunited a pet with it's owner and on the other we feel a sense of loss. But the joy of witnessing the love the dog felt for her owner over rides any sadness we had..Or so I thought.
The next evening, we get a call from the lady asking if I can watch the dog
while she goes into a halfway house. Apparently they didn't allow dogs, blah, blah. I told her I would but, she better not be bullshitting me.
Of course later I found oout she was. In the meantime, I meet her at a neutral spot and I get the dog from her. I listen as she tells me her story about how no one has ever been there for her and what not.
I told that no one has to be there for you to succeed in life if you really want to and how there are other people in countries that would love to be standing on American soil where you can make anything happen for yourself.
She claims she's hears what I'm saying and thanks me for believing in her.
On my way back to my place I keep replaying what she's said to me and the more I do the more it sounds like a crock of shit. So, I decided to sleep non it and make a decision in the morning..I woke up pissed and call her around 10 to tell her that my husband had come home and was vexed to see that dog there..Man I was shocked as hell to hear her tell me that she's just woken up. I tell her, well it's good someone can sleep because I couldn't with my husband yelling at me about the dog and I wasn't going to ruin my marriage over her, so she better get her ass down here and pick up her dog.
She did !Ok, so what that I'm not REALLY married and I lied about the husband situation..I had to get that crazy woman and her dog out of my life before it escalated to something else.
I know there has to be others who've had crazy experiences and I'd love to hear them..
