Any experience with NY State speeding tickets and suspensions?

In late August I had 2 speeding tickets on the same day in New York state. I am an out of state driver. Early September I got 2 notices from the small town court offering me to plead guilty and pay the fine. I ignored these letters and have since moved (would not have received any more notices)

#1) Is it possible my driving privileges are already suspended in NY state since I didn't pay the fines?

#2) Would it be ok for me to drive in PA or MD if the license is actually suspended in NY?

Any tips from your own experiences would be appreciated. I am going to settle up the fines as soon as I have the cash. I never drive these days but I have to make a trip through NY PA and MD next week and I am afraid of getting arrested for a suspended license.

You will get a letter in the mail to tell you when your license will be suspended.

Im not really sure if it will be alright but people tell me its cool to drube in another state if your license is suspended in another.

im from philly. i got a speeding ticket in new york. i paid it only because i will definitely be in new york again and if i get pulled over its BAD NEWS if i didnt pay the ticket.
hopefully u dont plan to drive in new york anymore.
or please dont get pulled over if you must.

some states have agreements w.other states. like if i get a ticket in jersey i treat it the same way as if i got one in PA(where i live)

if i was driving out in nebraska and got a ticket i wouldnt pay it cause i wont be there again and it doesnt transfer.

sorry i babbled. but yea your fine as long as u dont get pulled over in new york

doesn't work like that anymore... it used to, but they've since changed the way dls are issued, and if your license is suspended in one state, it is suspended period, no matter where the ticket was issued, no matter where your license was issued.

found this out when my husband got his license suspended for the entire time he was in iraq for speeding tickets he received in ks on his west virginia license.

its called REAL ID and all states had to comply with the new federal law by this year, otherwise the dls they issue cannot be accepted for a valid identification for things like boarding airplanes, etc. (prompted by 9/11)

sonow when you go to renew or get a replacement id/dl, you are issued a paper receipt with all your information on it, its your temporary. the application is then sent to washington dc somewhere and sent through a national database, preventing fake ids for illegal immigrants and minors, etc. but this also means that eventually, your home state finds out about your tickets issued in other states, and your license is suspended EVERYWHERE.

so... you might wanna get that taken care of...

I know you live somewhere else (you didnt say that), but NYS has reciprocity agreements with several states, and YOUR state may have one for which they will contact you about the tickets. If you dont know about that agreement, get in touch with the NYS court/s and tell them your story - moving, willing to pay but no cash now, etc. (Just the contact is needed, not a plea/fine etc.) BECAUSE in NYS if you don't respond to the court, the DMV kicks in within anywhere from 6-12 months, giving you a few weeks to contact the court. If you didn't respond the NYS DMV will lift a NYS driver's license/permit and if you're caught it's a Misdemeanor, a pretty big deal. If your state is not a party to a reciprocity agreement with NYS, you'd better not get picked up in NYS because, after all the above happens, you will have committed a Misdemeanor. Possibly other states that have such agreements with NYS may also get you in trouble if you get picked up there too.

Not to mention what it may do to your insurance.

What the law hates is if you ignore their authority. It may be a minor offense that is pretty easy to get out of, but ignoring what they say is a huge deal to them. And that is nationwide.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

^^^ I think that reciprocity agreement thing may actually exist. At least the other way around. My friend had a suspended NY State driver's license and got arrested in DC for it (though DC isn't a state so I dunno but yea). I'd say get it taken care of b/c it'd be a b*tch to find out the hard way that your license is suspended (getting arrested would suck, esp. over the weekend).

Why wouldn't you just pay the fine and be done with it?
