    Default sorry another newb thread

So I went to my first strip club today and I'm fairly sure it was a disaster. The manger came and talked to me and seemed to not like the fact that I had no experience. And he said they had auditions every month or so and they'd give me a call in a couple weeks when the next one was.

But when I was in the club I talked to a couple dancers and they said it was pretty easy to get a job there and they didn't have to audition. So I think I failed pretty miserably, and I'm hoping it wasn't because I'm ugly or something. I've never thought I was ugly, but if I was as attractive as the other girls, I would have gotten hired right?

So my question is, what did I do wrong? And how can I do it right next time?

First of all, do not apologize for posting. Welcome to SW.

I am curious to know if you made it CLEAR that you were interested in working at the club. Checking a place out is fine, asking for an audition is fine, asking to be phoned a month or so in the future isn't so great. But we'll get back to that in a second.

Phone the club ahead of time. Ask them if they are hiring. Ask about the audition process and what you need to bring. If you are given a time to come in, go in on time!!! (9 times out of 10, management will be busy, running late, MIA, etc... show up on time as a sign of good faith regardless).

Come prepared... have your makeup done, dress neatly, bring your audition outfit, shoes, ID, and maybe even your Social Security card.

Since you have no experience, present yourself in an enthusiastic "happy to learn" way. Act excited about working there. Have a good attitude. Be attentive to whomever is speaking with you.

Don't give anyone a sob story. Do not act desperate.

Make it clear that you want to audition. Specify when you want to start working. If the club isn't hiring (or Mgmt. is acting evasive) thank them for their time and go onto the next club.

Yeah... usually a when a manager says "We'll call you..." you are NOT hired.

I can't tell you why they didn't hire you. I don't know how you look, how you compare to the girls at that club, or what is going on in your particular area. There are probably a milion reasons managers don't hire girls. But that just means you go try out at the next club.

    Good luck.

thanks for your response and being so nice. I hope they do eventually call me, because it can't hurt to just give me an audition can it? I'll probably try to do some amateur nights, but from what I've read, auditions are better.

    ...to say the least!

Personally, I'd call (not mentioning that you'd already come in) or have a friend call and ask about auditions, and see what their response is. If they say that they don't do them, or respond differently than how they responded to you when you visited, then you probably weren't hired. If they give you another date, somewhere near what you were told, go ahead and show up on that date, at the given time.

Don't be afraid to be persistent, would be my best advice. This doesn't mean to stalk them, or show up at the club every day, waiting for news, but sometimes they have so many girls trying to get in, that some get lost in the shuffle. Don't just -hope- that they call you back.
I went to audition at a club and they had stacks of pictures of girls that they were waiting to show their manager. After watching my stage show, they told me they'd get back to me in a few days, when there might be an opening for me. They didn't, so I decided to get back to them, and wouldn't you know it -- they referred me to their bigger, better sister club, and I got hired that same night!

I agree... the fact that the manager said he will call in a couple of weeks is not a good sign.

My first club was Cheetah... I told the manager I had no experience, "audtioned," and started working that same night. The reason I say "audition" is because alot of times, the managers don't care so much if you can dance but mostly about your look.
A bouncer told me that the manager knows if he's going to hire a girl the min. he meets her. That's how it works around here... perhaps in your area the process is different.

Just try a new club... make sure you're prepared and look your best when going in to speak to a manager.

Well I went to another club yesterday during amateur night. I ended up not trying out because I was SOOOO nervous. But I did manage to get a waitressing job. I think that might be a good starting point for me because I've only ever been to strip clubs twice in my life, and I'm still getting used to it.
