Help, I need stories for my stripper comic!

hey everyone... so, i've been finishing up some projects that have been hanging over my head for a while. it's great to get things out of the way because suddenly old ideas push their way to the front of my brain. my latest kick is stripper-centric graphic novels/comeeks.

i love comic books. i love to draw. and i love being a stripper. years ago dancing actually brought me out of a pretty solid funk and reinvigorated my interest in art, with an emphasis on female anatomy and humor...probably was the extra money. it's hard to sit down and draw when you're homeless and starving, as much as that seems the "norm" with artists i can't function on a basic level without a nice warm house and a full belly, let alone be creative. heh.

back to the point, i have drawn tons of character studies, jokes, and rough ideas for this but never put together anything cohesive. i was going to start writing, and base some of the cast off people that i've met/lurked at here on stripperweb...but then it occurred to me that some of you guys might want to design your own characters and put them in stories of your liking, and then i could just draw it, and that it would be totally brilliant. (please agree with me) for serious writers, i would consider monetary compensation (as opposed to just credit for story) for complete scripts, once plot and characters were squared away.

i really want to do this and if nobody goes for it, i'll do it on my own, but it would be amazing to collaborate on ideas for dialogue, stories, visuals, design aesthetics... you name it. i am pretty much open to ANYTHING as far as characters, story goes, and would love to make this something far-reaching, multicultural, dynamic, gritty, sensual, poetic, grotesque, dark and light... sort of sandman-esque, to namedrop one of my influences.

here's a little graphic i made about the idear, which has a silly picture of my head and a couple of drawings just so you know i'm not screwing around about having the art skills to pull off something like this... i'm not the world's greatest artist, but i definitely do not suck either! one of my best friends is a total digital-art badass, and she'd be my colorist if i asked.

holler at me if this sounds like something you think would be fun!!

edit: attached pic, now maybe it works? figured i'd attach some more art...it's kinda old furry art but i like it. that's kind of the look i go for. cute. i don't really draw furries anymore though, i like drawing humans!

Would like to see picture. I can't think of anything right now. The stuff I am thinking would only be funny to strippers.

    Edit: Ooh. Pretty dancer.

Don't know what you mean about 'stories', but ther are plenty of them on the blue side
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

that's kind of what i'm looking for. stories with great visual appeal.

picture a strip club burning down, half-naked chicks, slightly singed, running out into the street in g-strings and stilettoes, being offered coats and hoodies, while management tears their hair in despair. then, cut to ms. mia roberts (or her alter ego) sipping coffee calmly in an all-night diner, smiling as fire trucks scream past on the street outside.

that's just how i'd do it.

sorry to hear about your experience w/that by the way. i would want to burn shit to the ground too.

^i think Ms Mia Roberts character should have some fire-starting power a'la Sandra Bennet (or maybe i watch too much Heroes!) ... maybe a past-life connection to a goddess of fire and dance like Pele that gives her the fire-starter power...

by stories, i mean fictional characters and events for them to act out... preferably things with great visual appeal, with subplots/tangents that go deeper than the every-day grind (or bump & grind, as it were). i'm not really interested in stories from customers, i want a stripper/sexworker comic written from stripper/sexworkerss POV.

example, mia r's idea about the burning down, could be one episode, one peek into the life of an anonymous girl who gets fed up with some shit, would be really fun to draw, and the script could be funny as hell. or she could be a recurring character and her Modus Operandi would be arson.

or, she could be an Angel of the Lord delivering swift judgment to evil strip club owners, who will later be seen in Hell forced to give lapdances to Satan for an eternity...you know i am open to all kinds of wacky shit.

i definitely am looking for things that are funny only to strippers, as well as things other people will get. (lets call them mundanes) i love an in-joke as much as the next person, and the don't even have to be written jokes. a sight-gag goes a long way in a comic. the beauty of a graphic novel is there can be a monologue, or a dialogue going on, it doesn't have to match the drawings.

you can be shown a series of images of seemingly unrelated to what's happening in the script, ordinary stuff, with sight-gags slipped in here and there. ie, somebodys doing a dialogue about something serious, like they cant work at all because their cat is sick, and as we "pan" through the strip club you could see some chick in the background, hauling off and slapping some guy so hard he falls down, and all his buddies laugh at him. unrelated, but funny (to strippers anyway).

i also studied film, scriptwriting, storyboarding etc so i have a very "film" approach to comics.. terms like "shot", "pan", "zoom", "cut"...helps me visualize/manifest.

we work in an industry that's "all about the visual" i mean rarely do you see a blind man in a strip club, but i have sat with/danced for more deaf men than i can remember. and even though it will be about our jobs, and contain a lot of nudity, the point of it wouldn't be porno, as i'm not interested in drawing hentai, there's enough of that shit in the world as it is.

please elaborate! i mean, what kind of pie??? i could go off on pie... visually its so gooey and perfect. om nom nom.

you'll definitely know if this gets made...and if you help me hash out details you'll get story credit! (with a stage name/pen name or whatever you would prefer) and maybe you can send a copy to the club that pissed you off...heheehe

man this is exactly what i was hoping for. it's not that hard to shoot ideas around!!! this could actually turn into a viable character/storyline. i am very excited because it was not in my list of ideas at all, and it is totally in the realm i am looking for...the real life shit that goes on (power tripping managers) and what we'd do about it if this was a comic book world. (superheroes DEFINITELY welcome in my comic book world... da na na na na na na na na FIRESTRIPPER) i have an old 70's coloring book about hawaii volcanoes with an illustration of pele right in the front. i am really into polynesian culture/lore. <3 pele!!!

plus im a total pyro. if i made a comic like this it would surprise no one. one of my djs mentions that every time he turns around i am saying something about burning, or fire, and calls me firestarter. (not fair, when the girl who just got back from burning man was showing us her pictures, and i was explaining how they burn the effigy, he just happened to be there, mentioning my obsession with fire... bah)

^That'd make a good short sequence! I remember doing a double dance for a blind man, and i also remember dancing for a one-armed man who was a grabby little f--ker! I emerged from the booth to tell my workmates "watch out for the one-armed-man, hes all hands"!

that is priceless. it's lines like that which epitomize what i am going for.

    *adds to notes*

another thing, i guess i didn't make it clear enough, i'm after characters. think designing your mage-thief rogue berserker for an RPG or whatever. i guess i'm hoping to come up with some solid backgrounds, stats, skills, personality/beliefs/attitude/catchphrases, physical characteristics, personal style/certain types of outfits, either based on themselves or someone else... and then put them in stories that are funny and interesting.

i also am looking for a way to integrate music into this medium. such as, for mia's story, maybe in the club that is burning down a girl can be dancing listlessly to bloodhound gang "the roof is on fire"... its all we dont need no water let the motherfucker burn...burn motherfucker, burn.. and then the dj will come in and say soemthing like "ladies and gentlemen, i dont mean to spoil the fun but the roof is actually on fire so if everyone will just remain calm and proceed in an orderly fashion to the designated fire exits --" and then all hell breaks loose. like people get trampled, girls dash into the dressign room to get the money they stashed in their lockers, some jackass thinks its a great opportunity to grab some titty and gets speared with a shoe...

    hehe. the possibilities are endless.

    Ok, here's mine:
Name: Little Brit aka Britney aka Emily Whittington-Smythe

Background: Emily is actually British, well spoken, privately educated and possibly of royal extraction or old-style Ms Moneypenny on her evenings off. Think Joanna Lumley as Purdy in the Avengers... watch this for inspiration
    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mtFNlKC3eXM

Stats: about 5ft, 32E-22-34, long dark hair...

Skills: Trained at the Royal Ballet (expelled for having Dangerous Curves!), the usual martial arts kick-ass skills

Personality: Terribly polite but super-tough. Guys love the accent.

Types of outfit: Guys love it when she goes on stage in a pin striped suit with her hair pinned up and glasses, taking off the glasses and loosening the hair for that 'why, without those glasses you're beautiful' effect, winding up wearing nothing but a string of pearls like all well-bred young English ladies!
Also a school uniform, she an wear this with her glasses looking very cute and wears her old school tie from her school uniform at boarding school (old school ties get you into all the right places with Brits!).

perfect! semi-based off yourself i presume?

we now have england well-represented. i will have fun drawing this character..i should be able to sketch some things out and scan it within the week, yay. i don't know about old school ties... i am compiling visual references, so do you think you could find some websites that have pics of the avengers look you like, and what an old school tie looks like? it would be cool to get a picture of the royal ballet, maybe the front of the building (i imagine it as a stately building) and put her in that scene. i want my comic to be saturated with imagery, real and imagined. i'll need reference for many things...the real work begins!

^^ Harlow you're totally right about the merch. opportunities. I'd love to have a g-string advertizing my own comic book. It would be a great conversation starter. XD But first I gotta make it!!

Do you want bad stories or good ones? truth or fantasy?
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

it doesn't really matter - dark, light, silly, serious, twisted, mundane, it's all the same to me. like mia roberts' story, that's not real, that's a fantasy, but it is real-ish... i don't know how to describe it. in the comic book world anything is possible. i like to go off on tangents so something perfectly normal can be happening in a story and the sidelines will be fantastical, i am a big fan of magical realism as well.. ever see pan's labyrinth? picture "real" human events (like the civil war in spain, an average monday night at the cat house live xxx nood girlz) as a backdrop for a fantasy world with creatures and ghouls and ancient beings, an underworld lying just below the surface.

Real story from a small, local stripclub a few years ago.

For months/years this older guy and his son would visit the club I frequented, both almost everytime I was there and likely more. The older guy was the father and he had something like arthritis and limped a lot. They both always talked too the club's owner. He would occasionally go to the VIP rooms for 1-2 songs once during his club visit. The son was tall and very slim, and very awkward and clumsy; he obviously wasn't normal in behavior too. He was well-enough behaved, but he really stood out and didn't seem to care that he was noticed by everyone. The son seemed to be pretty simple-minded and sometimes the father would pay for the son's VIP dance. The dancers seemed to like them both. Regardless of what, the son would always be smiling. Heck, in a club with someone else paying, that's a perfect setup for smiling. I sure would.

Well, the father died, leaving the farm and all his assets to the son. And probably hoping that his son would find some way to manage the whole thing.

Then some time after the funeral, the son came into the club alone. The dancers expressed their sorrow at the father's demise, and the son still smiled. The son spent a lot of time in the VIP rooms that night. They say he spent thousands of dollars among various dancers.

When the owner came in later, the son was still there having fun. And when the owner found out how much money the son passed around among the dancers and that the father has passed on, he wasn't happy. He told the dancers to give all the money back to the son and advised the son to stay away from the club. The dancers weren't too happy about this but they complied. I don't know if the son learned something and ever came back, as I never saw him again.

That's a true story, but probably it needs some re-arrranging for your purpose, including a better ending.
