    Default Who's the "Socialist" ?

I'm tired of the McCain Palin campaign accusing Obama of advocating socialism
because he wants to "spread the wealth around". That is what our government has been doing since the New Deal. Take money from some people and give it to others - Social Security; farm subsidies etc.

Under a Republican President we have gotten a huge new entitlement program; increased Federal involvement in the schools; a record agriculture bill distributing billions to farmers enjoying record farm prices and now we have "nationalized" the world's largest insurer and nine of our largest banks. Bush has been the biggest "Socialist" President since FDR. They're ALL Socialists afaic.

Exactly. It's sad that they can't find anything that sticks to they just keep throwing up anything they can think of. They have run a piss poor campaign and at this point an Obama win is inevitable but they just can't stop flinging the shit. If McCain was the same man he was in 2000, I believe he would be doing much better. When he was nominated earlier this year I was relieved because as far as I knew McCain was a moderate and a pretty decent guy. Seeing what he has become is kinda sad and very disappointing.

Plus - I don't think these people know what socialism actually is. And they certainly don't realize that Bush has done some very socialist things over the past 8 years.

Of course he could not have accomplished this without help from the Democrats in Congress. That is why I am not voting for anyone from either major party for national office. I know you don't honestly think Obama will change the current direction.
