    Smiley Obama Infomercial

    I.

    LOVED IT!

Aw man, it was so well done. Nothing in it was negative of bashing Mccain. It was positive, straightforward, and thoughtful. I teared up a bit

I seriously don't understand how after watching this, anyone can have anything bad to say about his character or his policies.

Man, you gotta watch the infomercial if you haven't....

and if you had, WHO ELSE LOVED IT??????

ps. what happened to the political poo forum??

I was a nay-sayer at first. He won me over after his acceptance speech at the DNC.

He's got a vote from me.

I'd be so proud to be an American if he was my prez., totally not how I feel right now.

And I love how 5 minutes after his informercial McCain ran some stupid, Obama bashing ad. I get so tired of his campaign. I really love how Obama took the high road and only focuses on his own policy and not McCain's, it's so refreshing.

I'm sorry I have to be honest and say I wasn't impressed.

Thought there were too many poorly based figures thrown out.

Also do not appreciate the money spent on creating and airing the infomercial, especially considering the economic climate we're living in.

the money that was given to him from the people was to run his campaign... not save the economy. he has to get in office before he can really do that

and the infommercial wasn't supposed to be cut throat politics...it was to let the people know that he is on our side. That he actually cares about us, and that he wants to be a positive candidate.

It made mccain look really stupid because it showed that you don't need to just attack your opponent to get your point across or get elected.

the us is sick of mccains obama bashing and hating in his campaign.... or atleast i am

And it showed that it can all be done with public financing, just like he promised!

I didn't see it, just caught later scenes from it on Nightline. But he is bringing new intelligence and hope to the country, and I don't think we've even started to see how impressive the man can be. I think there is greatness in him. I'm glad to know, too, how vital Americans feel this election is--I think we will learn, Wednesday morning, that the country wants serious change, and this will be reflected in a decisive Obama victory.

obama said he would work out public financing the conventional way if mccain stuck to the conventional way. partnering with the RNC and other semi-legal setups to get around the 2300/contributor limit is not 'sticking to the conventional way'. not to mention the other violations of mccain-feingold mccain already had done.

so when mccain behaved in a shady manner, obama continued accepting funds raised from the public directly, instead of copying mccain's end-runs around the finance laws he helped create.

had mccain actually taken only 84 million, obama might well have taken the same money himself. but mccain was the one who was shady and justified his own missteps by projecting his deception and, well, money laundering in a sense, onto obama.

i love how obama's small donations aren't public-enough financing. millions of people giving him a few dollars, and that's not good enough-- he has to accept a functionally socialist method of financing (the checkbox on tax forms) instead. i love how he's penalising for NOT using a socialist finance method, but instead actually soliciting donations from the public at-large and without coercion.

I call bullshit! Obama realized he would do much better financially breaking his own promise. He blames McCain because that was the only option he had, the groups he said McCain would be using haven't even been factors this election.

To the OP, the Members section is where we discuss Politics, religion or whatever just doesn't fit. We've got silly threads there, too. It can get a little hairy in members, so if you do visit that section, don't take anything too seriously. Anyone who is outright rude or insulting is dealt with, but people are pretty much allowed to post anything else.

I watched the infomercial and it was finely done. I donated money to the Obama campaign and I want him to use that money to win the presidency. If that means to air a 30 minute commercial, then that's what it means.

I think because he is the first serious black contender for the Presidency, he has a much steeper mountain to climb than if he were white. That is a sad reality of our nation, but it is a reality that we must acknowledge. If Obama were white, there wouldn't even be a doubt in anyone's mind as to if he was going to win this election. He is going to have to fight for this every step of the way, and if he relaxes for even a moment before November 4, he will lose ground.

yes they have. they have been what's allowed mccain to run a steady diet of ads at all. sorry, but mccain violated campaign finance laws during the repub primary and then used grey methods of funding afterwards to get around the 2300/donor limits. obama was the most honest fellow as far as public financing has gone, sorry.

I watched the whole thing on youtube.... and wish I was able to vote so I could vote Obama. God if McCain gets elected I don't know what I'll do. Nothing he has said or done has really led me to believe that he would be a strong enough president to attack the serious issues we are facing as a nation.

Even though everyone has made such a huge deal about Obama's skin color, he is a great man regardless. And he stands a huge chance at winning. I can only hope.

Wrong. And even if you are right, he broke his promise long before the primary was ever over. He wasn't worried about McCain when he broke that promise. He just used the evil "republican" groups as a scapegoat. He did it because it was way more economically viable for him than the other option.

Personally, I'm not voting for either. I know Nader doesn't stand a chance at winning, so he's got my vote.

Does no one on here think that maybe....possibly....the fact that Obama is black is a major contributing factor of his popularity. Personally, I dont' care what color he is. But I don't want color to be the reason he gets elected.

And McCain is just as bad, choosing that woman as his VP. I am an extremely independent woman, but Palin gives us a bad name.

McCain is NOT moderate. That's a lie he's trying to put over. He wants to overturn Roe V Wade. He'd like to go to war with Iran. He doesn't believe in pay equality (he voted against it). He voted against requiring insurance to cover birth control (bu voted to allow Viagra). He's voted with Bush 90%. Palin is far worse.

Obama is popular because he's attractive, but more importantly, he's intelligent. Neither McCain nor Palin is intelligent. McCain graduated 894 out of 899 at the Naval Academy (a school he only got into because his dad was an admiral). Palin attended 6 schools in 6 years (and rumor has it she barely graduated). We've had 8 years of an imbecile president. Obama is the opposite and it's refreshing to smart people. I don't know much about the other presidential intelligence but Nader is smart and Bob Barr seems to be smart. Yes, I definitely vote on intelligence. I've not voted for Democrats I didn't think were smart.
