    Default I Woke Up Crying...

I laid down to get a short power nap this afternoon and when I woke up mid-dream I was making weeping noises and crying. Is this normal?

These were the dreams I had:

I went to my ex-boyfriend's house. (We broke up on super bad terms.) (Reference my response in this post: ) Anway, so I had brought my cat with me. My cat was sleeping and I was carrying him around in my arms. My cat is super heavy. My ex-boyfriend was acting very cold and he said, "you're just going to come and visit me after i haven't heard from you in months?!" I got really scared 'cause I thought he was going to hurt me or my cat. So, I started to get up with my heavy cat in my arms and just leave but I couldn't get up because all of a sudden my vision got blurring with some periods of blindness. I was trying to go but my cat was just so heavy with me being unable to see.

Then, I went into the next dream: (Very odd for me to remember two dreams. Usually one. But rarely two. Anyway...)

My mom and I were at a really nice hotel in the taxi-cab pickup area. We were all dressed up to go this luncheon that I was really excited about. The program said the luncheon was called, "True Life: My Dream Vacation." So, their was an announcement that the only transportation to the luncheon would be provided by city bus. I turned to look around to see if anything was driving up and saw my former boss from the bank from like two years ago. She had a few of her co-workers around her and she looked my way and didn't say hi. So, I shrunk away feeling low. Then the bus came and everyone started to get on the bus. My mom got on the bus. But when I got up to the front of the line, they said that it was full. The bus started to pull away and I tried to jump on the footstep and hold on to the bus but someone was already there and I fell off. I watched the bus drive away. I looked around and saw my former boss and her coworkers (who also couldn't fit on the bus) just talking and laughing nonchalantly across the way. That's when I started crying. And, then I woke up making weeping noises and crying...

Holy smokes! What in the hell does that mean?

Thumbs up Re: I Woke Up Crying...

Wow! I've awakened crying, too. I'm no expert dream translator, but I've read quite a bit about dream interpretation. I think mostly dreams are our way of processing feelings or ideas that we are not yet ready to process in our everyday lives. Sometimes dreams have meanings that seem rather obvious. Dream one seems like it is trying to tell you that you have some emotional issues that you have not resolved. Things holding you back are 1)responsibilities(the cat and its heaviness)and your lack of foresight or knowing what is in front of you. Dream #2 sounds like you feel alienated and scorned in some way and also have fears about being left out or left behind. Do you feel you are in a dead end job or do you have desires about changing careers, but fear the unknown. Take some quiet time with your own thoughts, ask yourself what you would really like to do with your life...is there a talent you have but haven't explored is there a course of study that interess you that you have not pursued. hang in,you sound like a deep thinker and deep feeler. this can be painful, but it sounds like you've come to that crossroads in your life where it is important to pursue the things you really want. cheers!!! harlow

it's pretty normal, so long as it only happens occasionally. i've also found that stuff like that tends to happen more when i'm napping than when i'm actually sleeping. i think it has something to do with waking your body while it's in the R.E.M state. i'm no doctor, but i'm pretty sure that's more taxing than waking your body after it's fully rested.

this has happened to me quite a few times. usually after a nightmare that i can remember clearly and i believe is actually happnening. actually, this kinda happened to me last night and before waking up i had to actually convince myself that it was only a dream, so it was majorly weird. but in general, im prettyy sure its a normal occurence.

This happens to me about 2 or 3 times a year.

Normally it's about a loved one dieing.

Are you under more pressure than usual at this time? Suffer from anxiety.

Crying can be an intense release for me (as long as I dont dwell on the dream, or confuse it as reality)

I hope that you feel better. Crying is just like rain, it helps to wash away the pain.

I'll never forget the worst nightmare I've ever had.

I dreamed my dad was sitting outside the garage with a gun. he was going to commit suicide. he had his horse next to him, was going to shoot the horse first then himself..i woke up in tears sobbing like crazy and could not fall back asleep. I was so disturbed. strange ass dream....

i usually wake up before my boyfriend, and always like to watch him sleep. alot of the time tho i can see he's really upset and is generally crying in his sleep.
sometimes when he wakes up he sits up really fast and gasps, or runs out the room or just turns to me really scared and just gives me the biggest hug ever.

he doesnt like talking about it and just said he has nightmares, his mum said he used to do it when he was younger too.

This happened to me this morning, and I immediately thought of this thread. I had an extremely vivid dream, in part of which I was taking a shower. For some reason, there were a ton of different kinds of shampoo and conditioner in the shower, and I chose one and immediately got soap in my mouth. I tried to spit it out, and woke myself up spitting onto my pillow. *laugh*

I have dreams w/ really intense feelings to where i cant shake the sadness, guilt or etc for a while after waking up.

The part about trying to leave but not being able to that whole struggle could deal w/ feeling out of control and also is usually a sign of a road block in your life or lack of confidence.

There are a lot of sites on dream interpretation it helped me look into what i couldnt deal w/ in the day time that was affecting my nights .

this happened to me today and i totally thought of this thread! durign a power nap i had a dream i was an assistant to some bitchy old rich lady who was treating me like shit and i just broke down and started crying. kind of funny when i woke up. like everyone else said it's shitty but normal. for me it's probably because i'm sort of counting down the days right now, anxious to get a move on with life and be more independent!
