Weight gain big time like when it kicks in 10 pounds within two weeks; watch out; I had to get off of it but it does work, very well.
I was on this for about a year and I loved it. Didn't notice any weight gain for me, but the important thing to remember is the medicine doesn't actively make you gain weight, but it might make you have more of an appetite. So if you're worried about that, just make sure you aren't eating more than usual. Cymbalta is a bit of a different type of anti-depressant and I found it worked really well for me compared to others. Unfortunately after about a year the effects were wearing off so I switched off it.

If you dont mind a "blue" here, Cymbalta made me extremely angry, suicidal, and at times want to hurt other people.
(I stopped after only the 2nd dose.)
You probably know, but these meds effect people differently.
I was one of the rarer cases.
I'm hopin' it works for you though.
^^ Hmm that doesnt sound good. I had a similar reaction to paxil. I reached across the counter in a LIBRARY of all places cause the librarian was being a huge bitch to me. It was the oddest thing ive ever done as im normally quite peaceful.
I stopped after ONE dose.
Maybe ill just get back on the zoloft. it worked good but it took my sex drive away![]()

ok, thought it was funny, I know this is a serious thread, but I have to tell. There are SO many prescription commercials these days. When I first read Cymbalta I was thinking the Herpes suppression drug, whatever that one is. And I was thinking you were in a panick cause you just got diagnosed. Then I started reading, thinking the whole time, wow everyone is really open to having herpes!![]()
It wasnt till McKenna said anit-depression that I realized how stupid I was.![]()

I actually liked it when I first started taking 30mg and worked my way up to 60mg. That, in combination with journaling and self-reflection really helped me learn how to have better control over my emotional response. It also gave me no appetite so I lost a fair amount of weight. One of the side effects apparently is anorexia, and in the beginning the smell or thought of food would gross me out and I also had some nausea and overall weird feelings that eventually subsided. After 6 months or so I thought I didnt need it anymore and weened myself off. LOTS of brain zaps and crazy thoughts. In the clinical trials one woman who had no history of suicidal thoughts or major depression committed suicide after her dosage was abruptly stopped. Make sure you work closely with your doctor if you ever feel like stopping. Also, drinking while taking it is incredibly bad for your liver so please be careful.
Oh yeah..dont EVER try to go off it yourself. I'm on 60 mgs a day and if I miss a dose by an HOUR I start getting the brain zaps and twitching. Withdrawl is BAD. If you decide you dont want to be on it anymore, work with your Dr to wean off properly. Believe me...the withdrawl sucks ass.
And I didnt think it was working. I wasnt feeling happy or anything...no butterfly's and kittens! But then my husband said that I was acting WAY different and I realized I hadnt had any suicidal thoughts since going on it.
