    Hi,

I worked there 2 years ago but don't think it changed much. The housefee used to be £70, dances £10, VIP £100/p.h., the club didn't take any cut out of it. However, when a customer wanted to go to the upper levels, he needed to buy a wrist band which cost about £20 if I remember it right.

I would love to hear of someone how they can manage to make lots of money there... Yes I had good nights there but because the private dances consist of dances around the pole, it's quite hard to get many dances in a row. Furthermore, the prices of both dances and VIP are pretty low so it doesn't add up that quickly at all. One needs to do 5 hours of VIP to clear just over £400... 5 hours!!!

Also, the management is not very good and that's what I agreed on with a few more girls. I did like the look of the club, it's got a great stage in the middle of the ground floor, but unless the competition is weak or one charges higher prices than they officially list, I can't imagine anyone doing extremely well there.

£100 per hour? My goodness, that is low. I wonder if management allow girl's to set higher prices at their discretion? I know in some clubs there is a minimum for VIP (meaning that you can charge what you like, as long as it is not under a certain price). That's the only way I can see someone banking there.

I'd rather not work in a club where my income is capped at the outset. I can put up with more managerial/dancer BS but only if I deem the £££ returns at the club to be good. I've done it before. Metropolis is looking a little less attractive to me for those reasons now.

Are there any other personal recommendations of good clubs one should check out (or even ones to avoid at all costs)? It'll save me trawling through them all so I can make a shortlist. I've already got a few in mind. I'd like to put the emphasis on VIP-style clubs, I'm a good talker.

Also (I almost forgot to ask) does anyone have any info on Strings Soho? I heard it was good a couple of years ago, I wonder if it still has potential. I just don't want to work the Covent Garden one.

    Thanks for the info ladies.

    I work at strings soho...
i think its like ALL the clubs in london.... in theory the "potential" is there to make money...

in terms of club traffic... because of soho's location you tend to get less city workers and more 'lads in on a boys night out' who just want to drink and watch girls on stage... that being said, it has been really really really really slooooooooow the past couple of months (even over the holidays)... (and i really fear to think what january is going to be like!)

there are a lot of girls...(and a lot of bitchy and ruthless girls) so you have to be really 'on it' and agressive if you are going to stand any chance.... and that is really difficult when the cliques of older girls that have been there ages have no shame in pouncing on customers and grabbing them THE MOMENT they walk in the door...
( strings has a 'let them get a drink first' rule in general... but it is widely ignored at this club. )

management are friendly... but like most clubs house fees are quite high, the club takes a high percentage of earnings and also has lots and lots of silly charges for things like sit downs / being late to stage etc etc etc...

it's a good club to work in if you don't want to compete with girls doing extras (it's a very very clean club in that sense). and it's a good club to work in if you just want to make a little extra cash on the side...
however... i don't know how i would survive if i relied on the earnings from working there to cover my bills (i have another job that covers that thankfully)
and that says a lot considering i am one of the fairly 'agressive girls' who works there pretty much every night of the week....

all that being said, i'd still say it's worth a try though if you think you're a good hustler as it IS a really 'nice' and 'classy' club... and honestly... i reeeeeaaaaally cant see it being any worse than the other clubs in London at the moment.

anyways! thats my 2 pence... do with it what you like!

Union Jackie, i'm thinking about dancing in London in the new year so let me know where you are thinking of heading. Like you, i need the flexibility to be able to only do two or three shifts a week because of my dayjob.

Cheers Raven, that's a good breakdown. I understand the spirit of Soho so this seems to make sense to me. Keep your hopes up for January though. It's a month a lot of girls avoid like the plague, so it might translate into less competition (at least it did for me last year)! Here's hoping!!

Spartaca, I am thinking of hitting the clubs for auditions early Jan (preferably 8th, 9th, 10th) as I won't be back until around then. I will PM you!

As far as I know the Secrets chain are they only ones that will let you get away with doing two shifts a week, FYEO, Spearmint and so on all have a three shift a week minimum or face fines (usually the house fee in full for the day you didn't work).

strings isnt sooooo bad with the shift requirement.... you have to do every other saturday / monday and at least one day in soho and they are usually happy to let you swap weekends / days if needed... so in that sense it's quite flexible.

That's quite good then, it pisses me off when clubs are so rigid when it comes to changing shifts, even when it's an emergency and a genuine reason
My club requires you to give them a doctor's notice when you want to cancel/rearrange your shifts after you booked them, otherwise you have to pay the housefee for that night. I don't know whether it's true but my bf told me that GPs are not obliged to write you a notice and that they can ask you for £20 when they do write you one... so if that's true then in essence one will still get penalised even though they were were ill...

Your club does that? Which club do you work at if you don't mind me asking? As for the GP thing, it's at the discretion of the practice whether they will charge for the note or not.

Why the fuck would they charge you for a note? Isn't it part of their fucking job? How do they justify charging essentially 30-40 bucks for a fucking note??

The government has given GP practices incentive-driven targets to reduce the amount of sick days people have off (too many sick days costs the government too much money). So charging for a sick note reduces figures but also counteracts abuse of the service (you'd be surprised at the number of people who ask for a sick note 'in advance', or want one because they have a cold). I do imagine, at least for many practices, that if you present to your doctor as genuinely being pretty unwell, they should normally issue you a sick note free of charge.

But that being said, it's not just GPs; the police charge you when you want to file a lost/stolen item report (maybe to avoid people falsely claiming on insurance?). That's the world we live in nowadays

^^Thanks for the explanation. I guess the sick day thing can make sense, but it seems idiotic to charge for a theft report. I mean, why charge people who most likely got a bunch of valuables stolen, just so they can report it?

    How stupid.

I;m also going to be checking out clubs in london this month, but can only do 1-2 shifts/week due to my job. I've never danced in London so not looking forwards to these long shifts, and also want to be onstage as minimal as possible, (feel free to PM me with any info etc.)
