I have never been so excited in my life. I don't think I'll be able to contain my excitement or sleep tonight.
I feel so sad that Obama's grandmother isn't here to witness and celebrate in his victory. I wish she could have held out another day...But as a girl I know said, maybe she died in peace knowing her grandson would win I'm also sad that Biden's wife and daughter aren't here, because of their tragic end.
History was made tonight, and change will come, slowly but surely. I wonder how many people thought that they wouldn't live to see this? Can you imagine that only a few decades ago, the mere thought would have been outrageous.
It's been a tough eight years, be patient, change is on its way.
i've NEVER felt this way about America before. This is history! A hUGE step foward...and move on from all the BS the last 8 years...and most of all a BLACK man as president!!!!!!!!! THAT says a billion words!
VERY proud to be living in the US!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"CHANGE....YES WE CAN! "

As much as I'd been led to believe that being an American meant anyone could grow up to be President, seeing the reaction here, especially among the women of color on SW, is a reminder of just how excluded a significant portion of our population has felt for what has probably been generations.
Hope is an amazing thing. On this historic night, I am hopeful.
yes he is prolly the most trust worthy honest politian i've ever seen...and so cool, calm and collective. i heart obama....

bradley effect my shiny metal ass...
Who said freakin' Bradley Effect???
Are you saying that it is the "Bradley Effect" in reverse?, because Wikipedia states that the Bradley effect involves a non-black candidate winning... Clearly, a Black candidate just won... Where is the confusion... Please elaborate....

i was posting a rebuttal to all the repub-types who were very publically claiming a 'bradley effect' would flip mccain a win.
yay! its about damn time!
i find it funny being from the uk, that the whole colour thing has been such an issue throughout the campaign period.
surely its the aims and objectives of such a person that should be whats looked at?, would the same be said if mcCain was black?
^^^ i dont care about his skin colour, unlike the others you mention. Im just happy to get a somebody who is not so conservative!

^^ofcourse it means something that he is black our countries history is so painful in regards to race.. my heart is all alow right now because i finally feel hope. bless that mans heart for his bravery and sacrifice.

He's sacrificed nothing compared to what he likely will.
It's horrible to have to say that, but it's likely to get worse.
My greatest concern is for his children.
I only hope SS is up to their task.
The racist supremisists wont stop because the young will see.
So, being a white conservative, I can only send him & his family well wishes; and hope the children dont fall victim to the assholes out there.
His kids are getting a puppy! YAY for democracy!

Lord ,may we please keep our thoughts positive every second we can.
i meant to say my heart is aglow. that glow will continue to spread and grow.
change takes time and can be painful..
i just feel blessed to have my life touched by change like this. for every racist white supremist whose heart is filled with fear there are millions whose hearts are not. Obama and his family know the scope of what they are up against.
may we as people keep our hearts strong and full of love.
I can't stop weeping tears of joy! We have taken waaaaaaaaayyyyy too long to get here.

He's the most sincere, not necessarily the most honest. Obama became a typical politician during the general election, watering down, and in some cases changing, his message to something that wouldn't offend most people. For that I was most disappointed, because we'd seen some excellence from him during the primary.
His election to the presidency is truly something to celebrate, though, because we won't have a president who is pandering to the base populace (conservatives call 'em mainstream), but who will rationally, intellectually, address the issues at hand.
Too bad Congress will go and screw that all up...
