Default What was the most important proposition which passed in your state?

Here in California, in my not so humble opinion, it has to be Prop. 11, which drastically changes how our voting districts are drawn!

The politicians will no doubt be looking for some way to manipulate the drawing of our districts anyway, but I'm still ecstatic it passed!

For far too many years, I've been tired of all the games the politicians here played by gerrymandering our districts in this state!

We legalized medical marijuana and stem cell research. My state is mostly religeous farm-folk, so I was pretty shocked.

^^ I'm guessing we're in the same state, but if not, so did we! I was also surprised, but I guess the whole hashbash thing that has been going on in Ann Arbor has almost "normalized" it to some extent, and NORML seems to be very active in this state. Interesting, my mom has MS so I wonder if she'd be open to trying it out....

hmm, Im from Arkansas, I voted there, but I LIVE in Colorado. There were not any super controversial things being voted on. The most was should two peopel that are in a relationship and live together and NOT married be allowed to foster parents. To be honest I dont know if it passed. Because I am not there to hear local news. But I will look it up.

what do you think about that, should they be allowed to adopt/foster kids? After a few replies I will say how I voted, but I want an unbiased opinion first. lol

Yep, we're in the same state, I've PM'd you a few times

My dad has MS, too. I don't think he'll ever hop on board, but it's good to know he has a safer alternitive than vicodin or oxy. Even my goody-two-shoes fiance (he's never even smoked a cigarette!) was in favor of prop 1. Perscription pills can be addictive, and are so dangerouse when mixed with other meds or alcohol.

Yes. Marriage does not necessarily a good parent make, and the converse applies here too.

Well, it's obviously a loophole to prevent gay couples from fostering, so I think it's a waste of some potentially loving foster families based off of arbitrary Judeo-Christian moralism.

I think that the foster system is so overburdened with children I cannot believe that they are still trying to find ways to make it even more difficult for these poor kids. I agree with the above post, it's just a loophole to make sure a gay couple can't adopt or foster kids. It's amazing to me that people are so ignorant and selfish. And what is there argument? I've only ever heard that 'children need a mom and dad in order to have a healthy environment,' and well anyone with a brain can see the error in that thinking!

The most important proposition that passed in California was Prop 8, although I'd give Prop 11 a close second. But Prop 8 trumps Prop 11 because of the ramifications -- permitting the discrimination of a subset of the populace that most people claim to like, just not in "that way."

combined some of the tax receiver and town clerk positions...

Hell, its NYS; did anyone really expect any changes?
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

No props at the state level. We had to vote locally whether to keep a 1/4 cent sales tax to "fund civic improvements", almost half of which goes to subsidizing two museums here (some civic improvement). There was also a provision in it to offset property taxes. I went against it, but it passed almost 3-1.

    Colorado
    Amendment 46
AMENDMENT 46 - Colorado Civil Rights Initiative - Would prohibit the state from granting preferential treatment to anyone on the basis of race, sex or ethnicity in hiring, education and contracts.

Got rid of preferential hiring based on race.

    AMENDMENT 48 - Definition of person -

A sneaky way to ban abortion. A proposal to make the definition of a person begin at conception.

I voted yes on 46 and no on 48.
