Default New dancer in San Francisco.

I am going to (hopefully) be moving to SF in the next few months. Does anyone know where I can find some information on the clubs there and what the SF rules are? Is it a no contact city? Do dancers get hired as independent contractors?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

SF is definitely not a no contact city. You can decide to be hourly and sell a quota of dances, or be an independent contractor.

My experiences with some SF clubs:

Centerfolds: Full nude, no liquor. Lap dance curtained booths, $20 for bikini dance, $40 for topless, $60 for nude. Some girls charge up to $100 for a full nude dance and allow 2 way contact. One way def expected. Also you can reduce your house fees by doing shower shows.

Gold Club: Topless on the stage, dances done in bikini. Serves alcohol. $20 table dances, 3 for $100, half hour is $250, hour is $500. Low contact. Your house fees are a percentage of your earnings (can't remember the exact formula).

Roaring 20's: Full nude, doesn't serve alcohol. Tiny club. Some girls allow touching onstage. I believe the private dance booths are the same price as Centerfolds, with the same amount of contact.

Broadway Showgirls: Very beautiful club. Topless, same topless rules apply as Gold Club. Prices are the same as well. Has a great restaurant. When I was there in 2006 it was definitely a slower club, and is very large.

Garden of Eden: Very tiny. Girls do allow touching onstage. I danced there one night and didnt have the balls to do the private booths. House fees are $100 even. I was there March of this year.

Clubs to avoid if you are a low contact dancer: Mitchell Brothers, Market Street Cinema, Barbary Coast, New Century Theater.

If you're willing to drive to Sunnyvale, the Kit Kat Club is great. I made most of my money onstage ( I found there to be great tippers there). No house fees or mandatory tipouts but the DJ does appreciate it. Dances are clocked by timers the guy feeds so they never go over. You can get 3 for $40 or 5 for $70. No alcohol, fully nude. The girls there are super sweet too.

Wow thank you! The Kit Kat Club sounds exactly like the club I'm in right now in San Diego. I will definitely check that place out.

Nothing required. Just show up, audition, and work.

Not a problem. I loved Kit Kat and Gold Club the most. May I add I am very jealous? I lived in the Haight and loved it.

I will send you a postcard when I get there. Hehe.

I grew up there so I'm excited to get back. I visit a few times a year, but it's not the same as living there.

Oh, and does anyone know if there are other clubs in the Bay Area besides the ones in the city -- like in Berkeley or Oakland, or any of the outlying areas??

eden - call the clubs and ask.
"If she wants to dance and drink all night, well there's no one that can stop her. She's going til the house lights come up or her stomach spills onto the floor. This night is gonna end when we're damn well ready for it to be over, worked all week long, and now the music is playing on our time. Yeah we do what we do to get by, and then we need a release!" - Against Me!, "Thrash Unreal"

I just saw this thread, so sorry for the late reply. You can dance at most of those clubs while you are 19, with the exception of Gold Club - unless they've changed their rules. Hustler club is nice, and it gets busy at night, but it doesn't seem to be where the money is. I worked there years ago, and have a few friends that worked there after me. They said the rules have changed a lot and it made stage performances a lot harder. Go check it out though, you never know.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.
