Default Student in need in financial aid advise..help!

Hello ladies. Im a full time student who is a dancer by night. My partner lost his job earlier this year and has been having trouble locating a job. Not a huge problem because i can support us for now. This is my problem; I need financial aid for school but also need tax returns. I was planning to file as a dependent on my boyf.'s tax return as we have a child together but it would raise a lot of questions how we could manage in 2008 on only 3 months of his work. I was alright last year as i was working full time but have since quit and danced for all of 2008. I have no stated income. Any advise on how to deal with financial aid? I dont want to report income from dancing because i would owe taxes on it which i cannot afford. I am supporting my family now but with times being so tough, i cannot spare extra $$$. Im on a tight budget as it is and am looking for a part time job. Recession sucks! Thanks for any info

Since the IRS now has automatic reporting links with all US college bursar's offices and all gov't student grant and loan agencies, which also includes information sharing with NY state and city tax agencies under the IRS's 40 state agreement, I would give a great deal of thought to the matter of deliberately falsifying financial data on a federal student aid document !

well thats the thing; i know i cant falsify any info nor would i. The last thing i want is to get into trouble. But wouldnt being a dependant on sopmeone else with only 3 months of income showing for 2008 be a bit suspicous? Im trying to find a part time now and hes still looking for job(keeping fingers crossed) but i just worried if we dont. Do you absolutely need tax returns to get financial aid? is there any way around it?

yes of course it would look suspicious ! On the other hand, if your boyfriend was listed as a dependent on YOUR tax return, this would not look suspicious either in terms of how your basic costs of living are being paid for or how your college tuition is being paid for.
