Default Do you think I need a tummy tuck?

I went from 126 lbs to 177 lbs with my pregnancy. About 1 week ago I changed my eating habits and lifestyle. If I lose about 1-2 lbs a week to lose a total of 25 lbs of fat, do you think I will need a tummy tuck?

This is of me not sucking in:

This is with me naturally sucking in (I trained myself to suck in when I was 16 by doing situps with a towel so it comes naturally to me)

Do you think it might go back to normal when my weight goes down? Or do you think I am still going to have the abnormailities of that little indention in my tummy at the bottom and such? Thanks for any input!

I'd wait until you've finished losing weight before making any decisions.
Beyond that I can't give any advice.

Yes, I think you will need a tummy tuck. The area around your belly button and lower tummy will not go back to normal. Even if you lose fat, the saggy skin will remain and the muscles that you stretched out will not go back - no matter how many crunches you do - because the fascia (the tissue that holds the muscles together) can not put exercised back to it's former tightness. That means that you may lose the fat but you'll still have the saggy skin and a poochy tummy. I needed a tummy tuck after my son and it was very much worth it!

how long ago did you have your baby? my stomach looked like that for the first few months after i had my son about a year ago. did you have a c section or vaginal delivery? if you had a c secton, then the scar will eventually soften up and not be so indented.

as you lose weight, use vitamin e oil on your skin, not just the stretch mark stuff. it works a heck of a lot better. and helps maintain the elasticity in your skin so that it will "snap back." after about 7-8 months, i was back in my bikini and looking like i'd never had a kid, so don't freak out about it yet! i thought for sure i'd need one.

i'm 4.5 months preggers again, and this time around, i'm actually showing a lot less. as i started doing a lot more stomach crunches after my first baby, and my stomach was actually flatter AFTER my son than before.

also, please remember that everyone's body is different, and we all react to things differently. at this point, it looks like you had your baby pretty recently, so thoughts about a tummy tuck are completely normal as you're wishing you had your old body back!

also, i went from 125 lbs pre-pregnancy to 212 at delivery!!! a size 4 to a size 15. i thought for SURE i'd need one, but i didnt! you are a beautiful individual. just give your body some time to recouperate-babies take a lot out of ya!

and congratulations on your little one!!

lose the weight first. i went from 125 to 200 pounds predelivery and 170ish after delivery. right now i am hovering around 135 and will not need a tummy tuck (this time.) i rolled my eyes at everyone telling me that it took nine months to get that big and it will take nine months to look half normal but it is true.

OK this gives me hope that I might half way lose the extra weight.
I was 185 before I got pregnant and 205 at delivery. How big was you baby at birth.

hoenstly, I am with Blayze on this one. Although at the moment it looks like you need one, depending on how long it has been since you had the baby, you look normal. Although there are the lucky few, most women dont just snap back in 3 weeks.
Give it some more time, I am pretty sure a doc iwll tell you that anyway. See what happens. By the time the baby is 7-12 months old, I think you should know.

Well that just made me lose hope. My daughter will be 1 on the 25th. But only this past week have I really made an effort to start losing weight. I tried before when I lived in NM and walked 5.5 miles everyday for lunch and supper at Subway. Now I am walking about an hour a day. And I am eating about 1400 calories a day. And drinking at least 8 cups of water a day.

Thanks! My daughter will be 1 on the 25th and I had a vaginal delivery. She was 9lbs 3 oz. I thought pregnancy was an all you can eat buffet. Eeck! Well my fiance comes home from Iraq next month and he knows I have been thinking about a mommy makeover. Tummy Tuck, Lipo, and Breast lift. He says he likes my boobs now, but I at least want them moved up and a little implant to add more fullness. I went from full 38B to 36D . I want my old small perky perfect boobies back. lol. I am selfish and I know if I do all that stuff and I have another baby it will be no use. But my man knows how much I HATE my body now. He wants a son, but he said we can look into adoption a few years down the road. He was adopted so he knows what it's like.

I'm 7 months pregnant now and I don't expect any problems from my tummy tuck. I'm actually still pretty tight in the front so I'm carrying more the the back and sides but there are no complications with the growth of the baby or anything. I expect to go back to my tummy tuck like state once the baby is born as long as I don't gain to much weight and I keep active. I also had implants and lipo and I don't expect any problems there either. The places I lipo'd didn't accumulate any extra fat and my implants are under the muscle so I can still breastfeed. The only problem is they were D's before I got pregnant and I usually go up about 2 cup sizes so I'll have HUGE titties when my milk comes in. Good for my husband, bad for my back LOL! I hadn't planned on getting pregnant again but my husband changed his mind on having another baby so...here I am.

PS: I got all this info from my plastic surgeon so I'm not just talking out of my ass.

Well that makes me feel much better about having surgery. By the time I get it paid off I might be preggers again! lol. I am thankful for your info! That makes me feel much better about MAYBE having another kid in about 7 years. I will be 30 then. And I know to stay active and eat healthy and I don't REALLY need a ton of extra calories. Lol about your boobs! I never had to worry about them touching my skin when out of a bra but now they do and they aggravate me so much!

see, i lost all my weight right after because i was trying HELLA hard, my husband was coming back from iraq and i didnt want him to see me still huge. plus i breastfed. but i worked on my stomach, i swear i did probably about 200 situps and crunches a day, on top of school, and taking care of the baby, moving, everything. i was freakin' busy too, so i didnt eat all the time. i also walked and ran as much as i could, took the bebe out with me.

i had gained that much weight though because i, too ate all the time! plus i retained a lot of water. a LOT of water.

my suggestion, is lose the weight first, give your body some time to work itself out. and take care of your skin! not just on your stomach, but thighs (i forgot to do that, so my stretch marks there are still pretty noticable), hips, and your boobies too! giving it some time to reshape and lose the weight at a slow and steady pace is going to give you a better idea of what you'll need done. you dont wanna get some work done and then end up losing more weight and needing it done all over again!

that happened to my mom. she spent 12g on her body, lost a bunch of weight and then it looked bad. so she decided instead of getting it all done again, to gain all the weight back! so now she's exactly where she was in the first place. but with surgery scars.

if youre not dancing i dont think you should worry about getting one until after you lose the weight.
if you are dancing, you may want to consider getting it now

Yes, lose the weight first and then decide. Your body has a remarkable way of bouncing back after pregnancy and it is hard to tell at this point. Lose the weight first then take a few pictures and see how you feel about those. I think that there maybe some excess skin, but if you tighten those muscles and burn some fat, you may not need a tuck. JMO. BTW, congrats on your baby!! How exciting!!

What is the best way to get ready to bounce back from pregnancy?

My plan when for when I want to get pregnant is to get as buff and skinny as possible while still being healthy BEFORE getting pregnant, then doing lots of cardio and some weights during the pregnancy.

haha... each time i've gotten pregnant was when i was in the best possible shape i could have been in. that probably contributed to a fairly smooth bounce back the first time, i'm hoping it does this time too!!!

last pregnancy and this time as well, i didn't really do weights (it gets harder and harder, as the stomach muscles stretch, etc. and really starts to hurt!) and cardio during the first and into the second trimester isn't that bad, but the farther into the pregnancy, the harder it is to do strenuous ANYTHING-no room to breath, joints get all displaced, aches, pains, blah-in short, it sucks. what i did was a lot of yoga-ish type stuff, a lot of stretching, leg lifts, and other resistance-type exercises more to maintain what i had than continue building muscle or toning.

Stairs are the devil in the last trimester, but they REALLY REALLY help! even the arms, at least for me, i had to help pull myself up the stairs! lol!

IMO, get it after losing the weight and if it's going to be your last pregnancy. You don't want to spend all that money and time on getting a TT, then stretching it all over again.

My sister in law went to a surgeon in Brazil and he advised to do as such too. She is on her 2nd pregnancy(which will be the last), & after birth she will diet and exercise harder.... then off to Brazil for some sucking and tucking. I'd do that too after having a kid(s).

Well at this point I am thinking if I am going to need any work done I might be lucky enough to only have to have a mini tummy tuck. I guess it costs less and they don't have to do as much work. Bc to get a flat lookin tummy I don't have to press very much skin down at all on my lower stomach. I guess when I finish loosing my weight we will see then. I will keep you guys posted! Thanks for everyone's opinion.

Yes, because regardless of losing weight the skin is still going to sag. I have a few girlfriends who have had them done, they've all come out fabulous. Just research the doctor of course, look at his before and after portfolio, look up any reviews, yada yada ya.

You should get one if you plan on returning to dancing because no matter how much weight you lose, you will still have no tone and the excess skin will sag. Especially if it's been a year since you had your baby, your body has had plenty of time to bounce back from pregnancy, so work on losing the rest of that weight and then do some research on plastic surgeons in your area.
