Default a note to members board participates

it has come to my attention that things are getting way out of hand here.
paris is a mod here but is very busy. pryce has asked for help here and i have volunteered. i have not been given access yet.

this forum has gotten so ugly and a huge turn off for alot of members here.

calling people stupid, retarded, ignorant. name calling ect is unacceptable. there are a few of you here that can not and will not debate in a civil manner.
IMO lots of points should have been accessed in the last few weeks.

members was not created to be a free for all of anger and negativity and has totally turned into just that. in fact i have asked that it been done away with all together. whether it will or not is not my decision.

i ask everyone to please tone it down or just walk away. i can still give points here.

    thank you

While things have gotten out of hand on several occasions, I don't see that as a reason for closing the whole members section.

When discussing heated topics, tempers can and will flare ... but given a chance to cool down, that doesn't mean that things cannot go back to open debate and conversation.

    Just my thoughts,

the only comment I might add is that the potential closing of the Member's Area, with the associated end of discussion on certain controversial topics, may in fact be the real objective of certain posters.

i don't think they should be closed... i think they should be moderated and toned down... there are too many threads about obama bashing... why don't we make one obama bashing thread and keep it in there... we don't need 50 of them with the same objective...

and if people want to argue about race in politics or in amreica... make a racism board... argue it there.... racism in clubs is a more relevent topic to me... (but that isn't a memeber board topic right?)

    anyway, thats what i think...

its hard to be civil when being insulted over and over again and having it justified as an "arguement" or "opinion"....

but on the defense of those making the arguements... i'm not entirely sure they know that it is insulting (or atleast some of them don't)... which is ignorance... no matter how harsh that might sound...

just like the opinion that whites are better than blacks is an opinion...an arguement even... but still racism... and better to keep it to yourself if you are to think that... because i highly doubt there is anything on an internet forum that will change your mind in that case...

Yah, well, you haven't been the only one who's tossed around insulting statements.

I'd like to be able to discuss things civilly as well. That's something that I have tried to do (although I'm sure I've let my emotions get the best of me at some point) I was going to post a similar thread today asking that we just tone it down.

Why are there too many threads about Obama? The interest is clearly there and not all of us see it as bashing.

I don't think there is a policy about not posting about racism in clubs here. Just post about it anywhere but pink and everyone can put in their 2-cents worth.

...and thus were similar reasons "Political Poo" was closed 3 years ago and here we are again. Also, related to these recent threads, funny how some people here are not able to have a civil discussion yet .....Obama and McCain can "debate" each other, not agree, and can still respect each others opinion at the end of the day without throwing a tantrum.

this is exactly where political poo was 3 years ago and was closed.
first and for most this is STRIPPERWEB. i personally feel most of these discussions do not belong here. there are plenty of political, obama, tin foil hat discussions out there. why bring them to a stripper board? therefore possibly turning off new members/lurkers.

ms mia. i'm sorry maybe you dont understand. you are the main one that i was speaking of in my post. i didnt want to call you out but there it is.

the use of retarded, specifically is offensive on many levels. i understand you feel attacked but resorting to name calling is unacceptable.

I agree with you. Name-calling is never called for and civil discourse ought to be encouraged.

The problem is that we have a number of posters who conflate attacks on their opinions with attacks on them. Likewise, there are a few posters who think "feelings" are just as, if not more, important than facts. Thus when they read something that they find discomforting to them on an emotional as opposed to a factual level, they tend to respond emotionally as opposed to anything rational or objective. That's ususally where the name-calling and insults come in. And if race is somehow an issue or involved in a discussion, then I would argue that a little bit of extra sensitivity and respect would be a very good idea. ON ALL SIDES OF THE DISCUSSION !

We all know who the name-callers are. There's no reason to punish the rest of us because a few have stepped beyond the bounds of civil discourse.

I continually encourage EVERYONE to disagree without being disagreeable.
I don't name-call and try not to be personally insulting. I attack ideas and do it with facts. I respect any and all posters that do likewise.

If I am one of the posters folks are refering to I'd like to know. Feel free to post it here or in a PM.

I really try to be civil but if I've offended anyone personally, I do apologize. Let me know if I've crossed a line and I will offer a personal apology as well.

I like debating and I don't want Member Boards shut down or heavily moderated. I think we were doing pretty good before the past week or so happened and I'd like that to continue. If I'm contributing to the downfall I need to know.

oh please... i do not see one forum on here talking about any of the good obama policies... and the few threads started just about obama and praising the election....ended in virtual fist fights....

i would feel different if there was a balance...but obviously, there isn't...

i think you are mistaken there are plenty of people on stripperweb that voted for obama. hell, i'm one of them. maybe some of the obama supporters dont want to get involved in the mudslinging. hell we have to listen to the doom and gloom everywhere why would "we" want to deal with it here.

AGAIN. outside of unfair hiring practices in the strip club why is this even being discussed here?

yea, but a whole thread started to say how happy the supporters were.... then people came onto the thread and started to obama bash

you don't think thats askin for trouble??????

and i know there are plenty of people on here who voted obama.... (some of them are actually doin alot of the bashin)...that doesn't mean that most of the member forums about obama...aren't against him

i don't care about the obama bashing...people can argue politics and bash obama all they want... but when the issue of race comes up...thats when i start to have problems with people... thats when i start to get angry

and *suprisingly*....most of the obama forums pop the race card in there...hmm, wonder why that is??

If I may - Discussing racial issues outside of stripping is fair game when discussing politics, especially when we have just elected our first black president. It's the disparaging remarks regarding race, race relations and race discussions that upset people (including myself).

you can't talk about race and not have those type of remarks and comments... i'm sorry, but its just virtually impossible

its like talking about religion (which i don't see any debates on)

My experience here tells me most of the posters can debate things intelligently but some are way too invested in Obama's victory and thus overly sensitive to any criticism of him.

There have been plenty of discussions regarding religion in this forum. You've only been here a few months. The problem with religious discussions is the same as with race/Obama discussions. When I tell someone what the church teaches, I am being judgmental, when I criticize Obama, I'm being racist. Neither are true, but that's where people tend to go because its convenient and it helps them convince themselves they are right..

This is EXACTLY what I am talking about. If you READ what I posted I clearly
advocated caution and care in discussing anything having to do with race to AVOID offending anyone. For instance, it is a FACT that about 70% of black children born in the U.S. are out of wedlock births. I'm sorry but that's just a cold hard stat. It's when you want to go deeper and discuss the societal costs that trouble may ensue. I'm not saying you can't do it or that we shouldn't do it. I'm saying that if you're going to do it, try to be respectful and keep it on a totally intellectual plane. And if there are some who are offended by facts, I say: "Too Bad. Grow Up."

and i can say thats the reason we need affirmative action.... or more money for black programs.... or that same fact you used to prove your point, i use to prove mine... blacks are being held back...thats the reason fo that "fact"

then someone is gonna say, why is it white peoples fault that black people suck at life (in more words)...and no matter how politically correct you say it.. its the same thing...

    then people get offended...
