Default DJ's - questions for you

I went into a club today to apply for a door/security position and they mentioned they needed a DJ and asked if I would be interested. I used to be a mobile DJ in my youth but I've not done it in quite some time.

What am I possibly getting myself into? Anything you can recommend so I can quickly bone up on the skills? Do I need to bring my own music or will they have most of it on their computer already?

    Thanks in advance...

No problem. You have the gist of it now, as you were once a "mobile DJ". Practice your shpeel w/a hairbrush in front of a mirror(it works dont laugh), or go to another strip club, ask the dj there what they do, how they got started? etc. It's a good job, you have to deal w/a ton of shit, but, if you're willing to do that, you're cool. YOU must have a good voice, and command on the mic. Speak CLEARLY(I cant tell you how important this is), and so that everyone in the club can hear you/understand you ok.

Dont let the girls walk all over you. Invest in an external hard drive and try to find someone w/a ton of music you can "borrow" from them, this will help you immensely, believe me.

I do have the voice, just not the music stash any more. Guess I'll have to get that part of it figured out pretty quickly...

Easy to get. Go buy an EHD(External hard drive)...find a friend w/a shitload of music, ask him if you can copy it to the EHD, and you're set there.

Practice talking on a mic, or w/a hairbrush...

(example).." This is Nadia coming to the stage now......fella's get those dollar bills ready for tippin, if you aint tippin, the laides aint strippin". Something like that.......

Yeah, good advice. Just make sure you have songs from all the various genres. Brace yourself for playing the same songs a lot for certain dancers, but don't let them convince you to play the songs more than twice a night.
