Default Hair & earnings or ability to get hired

Ok, so if I am posting this in the wrong place, I'm sure someone will let me know. I
am finally in a place where there are ample clubs to choose from, and I am just getting ready to make that huge step and get started.
HOWEVER, I went in for a "trim" yesterday and got butched. My hair is ruined and I look like an absolute idiot. I got a quote for extensions today to fix it, and the new salon (and some friends here) have suggested I go to the place that screwed up my hair and tell them to pay for my extensions.
Now, my question is this: I have not yet started at a club yet, but there is no way now that I would have the confidence to dance, with my hair looking like this. So, how do I prove, or make a case to this salon, that their fuck up affects my ability to be hired or to strip?
Anyone ever had an experience like this?

i think you're dreaming if you think the salon will pay for extensions so i wouldn't even bother. usuallly in these cases they either just not charge you and/or fix it for free. have you considered clip in extensions? they're a lot cheaper and you might be able to get them right away
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

The salon wont give you free extensions. No way no how. I would demand my money back though.

A quick fix? Get a good wig. I know a lot of girls who wear them.

Try clip ins for sure, they arn't permanent, waaaay cheaper, and will help you with your confidence while you're hair grows out or you get it fixed.

Alot of girls I've worked with have worn wigs and they look great. Clip-in extensions are also a good option too.

OMG - I can TRULY say I relate to this!! I ad been feeling broke for a while.. And I have ALWAYS had ultra expensive extentions $2K plus... Anyway.. To maintain them is only as couple of hundred (no problem) but after having them like 6 months, I needed to purchase all new hair (another $2-$3k) and I figured: "fuck it - lets try short hair!!).

Well, after two days of short hair I took the money out of my emergency fund, and have an appt for wed to get my "real hair" back. OMG - I"m miserable!! And IMHO, its not just the "hair" that makes or breaks my money, but the way I feel with my extensions, that makes it $WORTH$ it!!

    Good luck w/e ya do!

My hair before this monstrous cut wasn't extensions, it was mine and it was good. I haven't stopped crying and I have only left the house in a ball cap. I'm miserable. I feel like the 80's mullet queen. That stupid hag that did this to me...I hope she gets fleas in her pubes. Stupid bitch. I've gone to three salons here to get quotes to fix it and they all have said they knew the salon i was talking about and that they didn't think they'd fight me on coughing up what it takes to fix this. Although the feedback on here has been that I'm out of my mind to try that, I'm going to try. All they can say is no. But they can also say yes. From the pics I took, they might not want that kind of publicity posted as representative of their work. I'm also going to the BBB and pursuing some other avenues. So it's ok if some people are skeptical, I'm going to try anyway. I'm sick and tired of consumers being expected to pay up their hard earned money for less than satisfactory products and services. This whole ordeal cost the bad "stylist" $75 and an hour and a half of her time. What it's cost me: my confidence (which screws up my ability to work well), my self image, possibly my ability to get hired, my mood (I've been a wreck since it happened and am generally pissed of about it). And I'm supposed to just eat it? I'm tired of getting ripped off and being expected to take it. Especially when I talked with her at length about what i wanted (it was very simple), and she guaranteed me that that i would leave with "a good haircut". So it's ok if most girls don't think I will get my desired outcome. But maybe wish me luck and send me good vibes. And if it doesn't work, then at least I'll know I tried.

I fried my hair going from dark to light to dark back to light. It sucks. Its pretty frizzy. I don't know what I'd do without redken anti-snap. I just deal with it and take biotin supplements. There's also an extensive thread in body business about rubbing monistat on your scalp. Apparently the same ingredient that treats yeast infections is also the active ingredient in rogaine. It really works.

some of the highest earners at my club have short hair. i don't think it's a problem. if they won't fix it by paying for extensions, just get a flattering cut.

i guess it all depends, but i've got some long ass hair and it doesn't make me any money ever at all. lots of comments from broke guys who are just there to chill. anytime i see that a girl has gotten extensions, i think "damn, you just wasted so much money"

i mean, i know texas is the home of big hair and all, but i'm sure you can still make money. there are a lot of guys everywhere who like shorter hair.

Keep trying to have the salon fix your hair. Do you have before and after pics? Did you specifically tell the girl you just wanted a trim? Careful with your wording. Do you have a job already where you can prove that your looks affect your $. Ex. It is understandable that you make $ with your looks, and your hair, you are paid for your "image". You have lost wages since you are not working do to a change in your image.
It very much IS the fault of the salon, as you are paying them to do a service as you requested.
Also, you can report the stylist, and have her license eventually revoked due to negligence, bad service, etc. I'm sure she won't want to lose years worth of work compared to a set of extensions

My friend ended up frying her hair when she bleached it and it broke off in a mullet shape. She just used glue-in extensions. They're relatively cheap.

I do encourage trying to get your money back, and going to the BBB if the salon refuses.

I know this is harsh but if they gave you a cut that has made you feel that badly I would by all means write a horrid review on Yelp or City Search and continue to leave negative feedback regarding their services until they somehow offer to compensate for it. Also call and speak to the manager and tell them that you had the worst experience possible and and you feel that you are owed because you did not receive what you had asked for, I'm going to assume you didn't want a fashion mullet right?!?!

I had this happen to me a few years ago when I went in to get some low lights in my platinum blonde hair and the stupid stylist made my hair gray, yes, gray she then said she would fix it and make it a chocolate brown for me... two hours later I had black hair and walked out in tears looking like Wednesday Adams...( just so you know that salon is Wax Poetic in Burbank, CA never ever ever get your hair done there.) I really wish now that I would've stuck it to them and refused to pay or put a stop on my credit card for that.

So in conclusion pursue these guys for some type of compensation for your loss...

remember its probaby not as bad as you think it is. what colour is your hair? I think dark haired wigs look more real.
In this day and age you have so many options to create longer hair. dont stress too much..... you will laugh about this one day

Extensions are expensive because you have human hair (I hope!) that you're attaching to your head plus the extensive amount of time the stylist has to spend properly applying them so that they stay in.

Shit, and don't have a cousin or some other kind of hookup...$60, pick 'em up somethin' from the store on your way to the house and it can look as good and last as long if you take care of it.

LOL, I thought I was the only one. Good hair costs like $100 a pack and then a sew in is $100 depending on the stylist. Shit a good wig is $250 from Beverly Johnson.

I would go for a wig....its the best thing I ever did for my pockets and my hairline. Short hair is my money maker for some reason, so I have tons of short wigs.

Without trying to be a threadjack:

question for the girls who wear wigs... How do you keep it on, like do you play with your hair and flip your head, or are you much more careful about your movements. I would totally wear them but I'm curious if they become a hassle.

O.P. I am so sorry girl, i feel your pain, i went for a year without getting a haircut because I was so traumatized. If you are positive you don't want to rock short hair, do the extensions, and go make a scene at the salon that fucked up, its bad publicity for them and they will have to deal with you before you scare away customers.

    xo

I take it you're talking about protein bonds. Even thought I think those are a rip-off, I understand that it's hard to get a competitive price for them. HOWEVER:

The above are points I have made to girls who pay through the nose for braid extensions. Hair is NOT expensive enough to justify 2k, and I see no justifiable reason for a hair person to charge more than 500 to put in extensions. Seriously.

I'm always changing my looks and I only wear synthetic wigs. Coincidentally, people think that it's my hair and sometimes, when it's really long, they think it's extensions. I only wear what I can naturally pull off taking in to account face shape and skin tone. I don't want to look like I'm wearing a wig or even a bad weave.

I wear full cap, half, or head band wigs. I wrap my own hair in a satin cap and wear two wig caps over that. I try to buy draw-string wigs or half wigs that have hair combs in the front and back.

I do pole tricks, flip and play with my hair all the time, and am not worried about my movements. I wouldn't wear them if they were a hassle. In fact, my own hair is more of a hassle that's why I only wear wigs for work. I need to look flawless and be ready to go with little hair maintenance, wearing wigs have afforded me that luxury.

I'm getting extensions next week, done by a great salon in Dallas. I thoroughly checked out the salon. The stylist spent an hour with me, talking and he did a few sample strands on me. I have a good gut feeling and am very impressed with his work. His price is very reasonable and I am excited. I got in trouble from my s.o. for ignoring my gut feeling, the first time around.
I am still going after the salon who botched me though. Who has had any experience with Regis? I am sick and tired of bad service/ products, and consumers just being stuck with getting screwed. I'm a reasonable, trusting person and I will stand up for myself. No more of this attitude that I am lucky that they will work on me. fuck that. THEY are going to be the ones to prove that they deserve my business, my trust and my very hard earned money. The offending salon's customer service has taken my complaint as well as before and after pics and statement of what happened. They now will not return my calls or emails. Looks like we're going to small claims. I have to try at least. While this is very much about my self image and an incompetent stylist, it is also about the principle.

I'd say find a girl at the club who does sew ins or has a sister/cousin/whatever who does. $100 for hair $100 for sew in. I prefer getting tracks sewn in anyways cuz I'm not about to sit at a salon for 5 hrs to get them done strand by strand.
