Default I just got my new X Pole!!!

Wow, I have lost some serious strength! Even basic moves and swings it's just like goodness! I can't even do any inverts . I haven't danced since FEB 2007 and I have a 1 year old so that makes sense. But I am just so excited. I actually was able to put it up on my own. I know my fiance is going to like it

In my opinion yes. And they are portable. They also are the only pole that can go from static to spinning and it only takes like 15 seconds. I was even able to put it up on my own!

I have a regular 2" brass pole, and I wanted to know if there is much of a difference in the two sizes? Besides the obvious (size) Is it hard to transition from the two sizes? I have small hands

I love my x-pole. I got the 50mm because most poles I've encountered are that size (and I think it's more challenging to learn certain grips that way) and it's helped me stay in shape while working in a no-pole club.

Platinum Stages Multi-piece pole is the best and it is portable. It is very sturdy and is the only pole that I know that easily switches from static to spinning in 1 second just by taking out or putting back the pin.

They are the most trusted pole makers and are found in gyms, pole studios and strip clubs. There is a reason they have been around for so long and still standing strong.

I work with both xpole and plat stages. They're pretty interchangeable. Both set up in basiclly the same way and both go from static to spinning simply by taking out a pin.

Congrats. You are going to LOVE having a home pole! Take it slow at first because you are going to be very sore. But in no time at all you'll be back to doing advanced tricks.

The smaller poles are easier to do hand held only moves but harder for leg holds and various inverts like a cross ankle release.

Lucy is correct in the difference between the skinnier and the thicker poles. For some people that difference is significant for others, what you learn and work on you will adapt to.

Consider that most clubs have a standard two inch pole, then you may wish to consider having the same sized pole at home.

The majority of people and students I come across do best with the use of a 2 inch pole than the skinnier pole - unless you can afford one of each!

Which brand is best is a matter of the opinion of the person you are talking to. I have used both PS and XP as well as several other brands and XPole is my preferred by far.

XP and PS are often compared as they appear similar in design but there are a few differences:

XP comes in chrome or titanium finish - PS in stainless or brass finish

XP converts to spinning mode with the twist of a screw - PS by removing a pin at the base. They both take just a few seconds to convert...I've seen problems with the PS pin getting stuck.

XP sections have small holes at the far end of each section in which you can insert a rod to provide leverage to unscrew the sections when disassembling. PS poles do not have this and I've seen them get stuck so that even several strong men could get them apart.

XP comes with a carrying case and all the tools needed to put your pole together and set it up.

Yeah most people prefer the X-pole although I am a PS gal myself. I prefer the stainless steel to chrome.

The PS pole does get stuck a lot and I've had little luck with strap wrenches. If the PS pin gets stuck I just use a flat head screwdriver to take it out -easy peasy.

The HUGE difference between X and PS - and I'm rare but not the only one - is I notice the difference between diameters 50mm = 1.96 inches vs PS which is 2 inches.

Not so rare Charley...I can almost always tell the difference as I also regularly use 2 inch poles and people who use a pole often like dancers and instructors can tell the differences.

What is rare is that people are affected by that difference. I can switch between 2 inch and 1.97mm without a difference in my ability.

If you use a wd40 pen on your PS multi ends while setting it up they won't get stuck together.

I think the pieces on the PS multi pole fit together much smoother. I've had problems with the X pole not screwing together flush and leaving a lip that scratches and scapes the skin.

IMO i don't think x pole's carrying case is a plus as I don't see myself carrying about 40lbs on my shoulders or even hands. Wheels are always preferable and PS carries that. Oh well, maybe I'm just a lazy bum but I can't help but like convenience

This might open up a can of worms but dare I say it seems that the marketing strategy of the X pole makes it get more glowing reviews. I tested and researched different brands mainly X pole and PS before deciding on my purchase.

PS is sold only through the manufacturers whereas X pole is sold by different people which automatically results in more reviews, mainly positive equaling more sales and profits. I am not questioning the quality of the X pole as I think they have earned their names obviously but I am just giving a possible reason as to why it may seem that people prefer the X pole to other poles.

X-pole has a very well deserved good rep. I think X-pole is marketed better than PS poles and they are less expensive. A lot of pole dance studios use them too and usually people will buy what they know. Plus PS used to have really bad customer service - they have since changed that and they are wonderful to deal with.

I was really afraid of what I was getting when I ordered my first PS pole - I immediatly thought I should have gotten an X-pole...but I was very pleasantly surprised! They're both great poles and totally worth the money. I just prefer my PS pole to my X - but I am really finicky and strange.

I also have a Lil Minx pole - but wasn't happy when it ate right through my ceiling joist - I guess I am just really hard on my poles.

All multi piece poles should be cleaned at the threaded joints and then lubricated with WD 40 or preferably a pure silicone spray. However that will not keep them from always getting stuck. The one I saw get permanently stuck had been cleaned and lubricated regularly. It just happens if you let any multipiece go too long.

If the pieces between an upper and lower section scratch or scrape the pole was either damaged or manufactured incorrectly as the pieces are seamless on every multi-piece pole I've used (PS, XP, PoleDanzer, LM, even My Sexy Pole) or you may have run across one of the XP knock offs which is a huge problem with poor and even unsafe quality.

The carrying case refers to the multi-piece poles not the stage. PS has an option for wheels on their stage not on the multipiece pole.

Also, PS can be sold by anyone with a resale license just like XP - they've always offered that ability, though they made it easier with a drop shipping option about a year ago.

I have a carrying case with wheels and butterfly design from PS that is designed specifically for the multipiece pole. That is the only carrying case I have seen listed on their website. Felinity studios in Toronto also orders the one piece pole, and multipiece poles with the option of carrying cases for anyone who requests it. I didn't know they had a carrying case for the stage as carrying cases with wheels I have seen on their website is only for the multipiece pole.... interesting.
