Default The transexual's take on strippers

I heard something on the radio today that pissed me off, but was funny at the same time.

Some transexual (I don't have an issue with them, except this particular one) was talking about how uncomfortable strip clubs made him and how every time he went to one he just wanted to sit the girls down and say "Why would you do this, What happened to you? Who touched you?! Why do you speak in that baby voice?!" all this was said as he lisped along in his fake girl voice...

I dunno buddy, Why would you do what you do? what happened to you? Who touched you? and why do you speak in that fake girl voice?

Some people just can't see the forest for the trees.

Oh what the fuck, you know what's funny about that though?

I was just at an AWFUL gay/transvestite/whatever bar, and I was like, kind of thinking that same thing....I have NO issue at all with that lifestyle, don't get me wrong but this particular bar was sick....it was like not even really transvestites but bad crossdressers, crossdressing postitutes who were pulling up their skirts and showing their "junk" (no shit) and I was really disturbed...

It did occur to me, you know VP that's probably how a lot of people feel about strip clubs....lol. IDK though, I don't think a man who has to put on a wig and panties to feel okay should be judging what I do for a living, and asking "who touched you???"

I use it when I do my "vapid stripper" act to make people laugh.

Hmm, I see a difference between an occupation and a mental health issue (ie trans people change their physical bodies so they can match their mental identity, and be "themselves" or "whole"), but I get what you mean about going into a depressing place and thinking "how the fuck did this happen???"

Thank you, but most strippers I know have never been "touched". It's not a job you fall into because you're fucked up in the head, most of the girls I work with are mothers and wives who just needed a some extra cash or girls who are putting themselves through school.

The transvestite should have KNOWN how it feels to be looked down upon because of your lifestyle choice. I never judge someone because of the choices they make because I don't know what they have been through that made them who they are.

i'm not enjoying all the transsexual hate right here. while what she said was stupid and fucked up, it's a statement that's surely been made by people in every category of the population.

we're lucky enough to be able to use our natural bodies to make money. some people don't even feel like they're in the right body, let alone have the option to bank off of it. as a segment of the population that was formerly discriminated against, looked at as property, and is still at a distinct disadvantage to men, i think we need to be a little more understanding. referring to her as "him" or "he/she" is sorta ignorant.

i'm not hating or trying to start a flame war or anything like that, and while i agree that this comment was unwarranted and biased, returning hate and misunderstanding with more of the same won't do any of us a bit of good in elevating ourselves.

    /end rant.

This night is gonna end when we're damn well ready for it to be over, worked all week long, and now the music is playing on our time. Yeah we do what we do to get by, and then we need a release!" - Against Me!, "Thrash Unreal"

I meant to call it a him to be ignorant. If you always turn the other cheek that's wonderful for you, but I refuse to show respect to someone who has labeled me as a damaged, abused, child.

ESPECIALLY, someone who should know EXACTLY how that feels.

That was definitely puzzling as well. I mean, making generalizations and assuming things about an individual or group based on stereotypes is a horrible thing to be on the receiving end of. Why doesn't he see the irony? I had this hope that anyone who had to endure the confusion and heartache of "being in the wrong body" and thinking outside of gender norms would think before making such stupid assumptions about people.

I don't think there's much hate or misunderstanding in this thread, simply toungue-in-cheek remarks.

Oh, since we're on the subject of transgendered people:
This customer told me trans people are fucked up, and that we should be fixing their brains, not their bodies, because DIRECT QUOTE "If someone believed they were a monkey, we would fix their brain, not give them surgery so they could be a monkey".

I wanted to punch him until he turned into a bloody pulp. I was LIVID. All I could come up with was "well, we considered being gay a mental illness until a few decades ago" and excused myself.

How would you argue against this (if it didn't happen at work?) It was so fucking ignorant, and I didn't know where to start refuting his "point".

See now that I find offensive. How exactly am I at a distinct disadvantage to men? I mean, most men don't have the option to be a stripper, either FWIW.

And I certainly wasn't hating on transexuals, I was hating on the badly dressed transexuals who were showing their penises to perspective Johns in a strip club. There is a vast difference between the two. I would also hate on women who showed their va jay jays to potential Johns in a bar.

Additionally, I would think a transexual would have the same respect we should have for them, as a group of people who is grossly misunderstood, and not throw around judgements.

i'm not trying to throw around judgments or criticize anyone. i'm just mentioning that it's ignorant of us to be ignorant back.

we are pretty much at a disadvantage to men in most other professions. women make far less than men do for the same job, not to mention widespread domestic violence issues. i am by no means saying that we are lesser, just that not that long ago, we were similarly disadvantaged and discriminated against the same way transsexuals are now, and we still haven't gotten equal footing with men.

*sigh* Sorry sorry I know I'm not a stripper. But ditto on not calling her "him" or "it" or making nasty gibes.

She is a moron. Like many other morons. Like homosexuals who throw transexuals under the bus. Like many other people who are discriminated against and still treat other people like shit.

She still deserves to be regarded as a woman. Please people.

I don't think there are too many people being ignorant (aside from calling her "him").

I didn't notice the "him" part.

PSA: transgendered people are supposed to be referred to as the gender with which they identify, not the one they were born to.

You know, I keep hearing how women make less than men for doing the same job, but I have yet to see it.
I think that issue is greatly exaggerated.
