    Default Studded Dance Clothes

Does anyone know where I can get outfits with studs and/or rhinestones, online. There is a lady here in Detroit who sales them, but they are really expensive. Like $150 and up. This link is from another thread and I want something like the ones these girls are wearing.

    ^^Yup...

I sell clothes and stones are very expensive. I offer Nom de Plume, which is a very high dollar company. Their gown start at $80 with no embellishments and go up to $200+ for stones.

Go online and price the stones you want. You'll see how expensive they are. And then the amount of time you are going to spend doing it yourself will make purchasing the gown for $150 a little easier for you.

Where do you look for stones at? I wouldn't mind doing this.

Buy plain gowns and put your rhinestones exactly where you want them. They're quite reasonably priced on ebay.

I saved that exact clip to my youtube favs just to be able to do the same. I haven't come across anyone who will do that without the price being what you mentioned. It is definitely cost effective to do it yourself. And I'm not cheap when it comes to clothes, but I don't like getting ripped off. Not saying that is what the sellers are doing, because it takes time and effort to bedazzle clothing. I'd pay more money for something in a pattern, or looks incredible.

Gluing stones on a costume isn't very hard at all. You could also buy the stones that have the metal clasps on the underside, but your fingers would hurt after a while. My mom was a seamstress on the side and I had to help her do that stuff.

I'm halfway done with mine- I decided to stud the whole bikini, no space in between. Great way to look glamourous.

Be careful with the size of the stones also. Look at a size chart. Don't get anything too small to start out with. Stones can be expensive, but there are deals to be had. Watch ebay closely for a week or two. Guesstimate how many stones you'll need. You can always add more afterward. MAKE SURE they are Swarovski! Others can look dull.

For Swarovski you are going to pay anywhere from 6-12 cents per stone. The average gown is going to require several hundred. Then you have to pay for the backing.

Would you spend 3 hours on one outfit?

I am considering the heavily beaded gowns by Nom de Plume. For those gowns, your local retailer is doubling her cost. But please consider that the first 8% goes to sales tax. She pays about $1, or more, in shipping per outfit. And she has overhead and federal tax.

My profit for a $150 gown is $44 after taxes, but not including overhead. Trust me when I tell you that she makes more money on the small items, like stocking and thongs, than she does on that gown. If you bought $150 in thongs from me my profit would be almost $25 higher, before overhead.

But whatever your decision in these financially trying times: I wish you the best!
