    Default panic attacks at work?

I have recently (within the past year) started to suffer from panic attacks at work. I don't know what starts it - it's not the customers, not the girls. It just comes on all of a sudden. Sometimes I'm in the DR, sometimes I'm in the CR, sometimes I'm on stage. It happens only when I am at work at the club or when I am about to go into certain restaurants (long story haha).

Does anyone else ever suffer from panic attacks at work? I am taking ativan to help with them, but I would prefer to try to live through the attack instead with meditative thinking, which, of course, is hard to do with the *thump thump* of the music coming from the speakers.

Last night was the worst. I decided to work on thanksgiving. it was slow, as expected, but I was one of four girls working (compared to the 20 girls who are usually working on a regular thursday). I dunno what caused it - it was slow, I was relaxed....

if you suffer from panic attacks, do they happen at work?

I have dealt with panic attacks all my life, and for some reason, they seem to have come on more at work (other jobs too, not just stripping) or around crowds. I used to panic really bad whenever I went into a Wal-Mart! Still never figured out why. I used to be on Ativan and stopped taking it cause it would make me so tired.

Are you SURE that it's not people that make you nervous? I realized a long time ago that I had a bit of social anxiety disorder and didn't even know it. As I have become older, it has improved and I don't really get panic attacks any more at all. I still can't go around large crowds (like the mall or something) without getting a little panicky, but since I have been aware of what's up and have accepted it, I'm able to control it more now.

I used to get them too. Are there any other stresses in your life right now that you think about at work that makes you ill. When you're at home write down what goes on in your head when you're at work or at certain places. You don't have to be meditative (it is hard to clear your mind when there is loud music), but if you know "Okay I feel a panic attack coming on" mentally talk your self down. Know that it is psychological and you're only feeling ill because you are making yourself feel ill. I hope you feel better.
