    Post Flexibility

I was in gymnastics for 10 years as a child, but I quickly lost all of my flexibility with in two years after I quit. I don't know why it left me so quickly or where it went! And now that I don't have any coaches hounding me every day, I can't seem to remember how to get it back either.

What I really want to get down is the splits and a back bend again. What do you guys do to keep up your flexibility at work and out side of work? And how did you get these skills down? Any advice would help. Thanks!

^^ I'm guessing I should take yoga?? Lolz... Sounds good. I've always wanted to try it. I want to do something high intensity too. I love the feeling of pushing my body to its limits. With gymnastics and now learning crazy new pole tricks! Yoga seems cool and relaxing, but is there something more intensive? Or are the different levels/styles of it I can do? I guess I should look around my town, huh? *duh*

Yoga has many different styles. Hatha yoga is pretty easy, Vinyasa is a little more vigorous, and Ashtanga will make you sweat your balls off. (I mean, ovaries.) Bikram yoga is ashtanga done in a room that is heated to over 100 degress! Here's a link to more info:http://yoga.about.com/od/typesofyoga/a/yogatypes.htm

Yeah yoga is a bit more slow paced and thats not bad if you are working back into that flexibility for starters right? I did ballet for 16 years and i still stretch as often as possible. Stretch and cardio and nutrients your muscles will need. Just like training for gymnastics. ^_^

Can you get flexible at 23, even if you've never been flexible your whole life ,and you started yoga, and stretching? Lol... maybe a silly question.

Of course. Age is but a number. It's all up to you to feel what you want and get that flexibility. Just may take a little longer if you have never been flexibile. Good luck!!
