push ups, pull ups, pole tricks! swimming is absolutely fantastic for your arms and shoulders and back, too.
"'bows and toes"
i learned this at swim camp when i was a kid. you're in a position very similar to pushup position, only instead of your hands on the ground, it's your elbows. back straight, balanced on your elbows and on your toes for fifteen seconds at first, if you can and repeat five or six times. gradually work up to thirty seconds, with as many repetitions as you can. great core and back exercise.
