    Duh Starting out

Before I start dancing I want to work at a club as a bartender/shotgirl/hostess or something along those lines, but I feel like it's almost harder to get a job as a shot girl than it is to get a job as a dancer. I have years of experience bartending and waitressing. I've called three clubs to ask if they were hiring for any of those positions and they all told me no but I am welcome to fill out an application. It was very irritating. Would my chances be better if I went in person to the clubs instead of calling?
Also, which clubs in Detroit would be good to start dancing at? I'm not looking for anything too upscale, I kind of want to start small and learn the ropes and then work my way up to better clubs.
I'm just really frustrated right now

Yes, absolutely you must go in person to apply for a waitress position. Those jobs are hard to get, as there is many more dancers working at a club compared to waitresses. Usually a 20/1 ratio dancers to waitresses. You should dress like you want a dancing job. Hiring of waitresses is based on looks just as much as dancers.

If you call, managers think you aren't really serious about working there. You ALWAYS want to apply in person. Especially a job that is based on looks and personality. You can then always call later to check on your application.

I knew a girl from Cheetah's who danced there and she liked it, another girl from Centerfolds who had nice things to say about it, erm, Penthouse I heard not so good things about...Trumps seemed nice, so did Playhouse. There's the Colessium or other clubs in Greektown...the Bouzuki Club (I don't know if that is upscale or not.)

I dance at the Cheetas in Windsor, and let me tell you it's worth the 8 hours drive from my house. I do it every weekened. All of the clientele is American, maybe because our club got voted number 1 by Detroit news. You should check it out. I don't know how the bars are in Detroit, what the rules are and what not but all of the tourists or whatnot come over here!!
