Default From The “Panic” Of 2008 To The “Collapse” Of 2009

The following revolves around one Gerald Cilente, who has consistently made very accurate trend forecasts ...

(snip)"The country’s top trends forecaster, who accurately predicted the “panic” of 2008 nearly a year before it unfolded, is now ominously suggesting that next year will come to be known as “the collapse of 2009″.

Gerald Celente, CEO of Trends Research Institute, sent out a letter to his subscribers announcing that he had purchased a domain name called “Collapseof09.com”.

    Around this time last year, Celente sent the following message to his subscribers;

In 2008, Americans will wake up to the worst economic times that anyone alive has ever seen. And they won’t know what hit them. Just as they were in a state of shock on 9/11, they’ll be frozen in fear when the Economic 9/11 strikes at the heart of Wall Street.

Dismiss this trend forecast at your own peril. If you believe everything will be all right, and that the ship of state is sailing along just fine, toss this out and go about your business.

Having correctly forecast the “Economic 9/11″, Celente is warning that people should prepare for something much worse in 2009.

As we reported last month, Celente recently told Fox News that by 2012 America will become an undeveloped nation, that there will be a revolution marked by food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches, and that holidays will be more about obtaining food, not gifts.

Celente’s accuracy is widely heralded since he correctly predicted the 1997 Asian Currency Crisis, the subprime mortgage collapse and the massive devaluation of the U.S. dollar.

In 2007, Celente forewarned that “giants (would) tumble to their deaths,” which is exactly what we have witnessed with the collapse of Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and others.

Celente has stated that the current financial downturn will ultimately lead to nothing less than revolution.

“There will be a revolution in this country,” he said. “It’s not going to come yet, but it’s going to come down the line and we’re going to see a third party and this was the catalyst for it: the takeover of Washington, D. C., in broad daylight by Wall Street in this bloodless coup. And it will happen as conditions continue to worsen.”(snip)

We discussed him on another board or two, blah blah blah.

Can anyone point out all his predictions, not just some he got right?

You see, anumber of those things were discussed by others before he even got to them.

Demise of the Soviet Union............................................. ................. 1990

    lol

So, how many other predictions did he make that didn't come true? I mean come'on, if he only predicted The Panic of 2008 and Economic 9.11 in 2007, they're both a few days late and a few dollars short.

That guy has a way with words for sure. Made me LOL several times. I especially like this part:

"Fox News [video] and wingnut sites like Alex Jones' Infowars, desperate to blame Obama for things he hasn't done yet, pounced on Celente's gloom-and-doom prognostications like a Doberman on a rump roast."

Also I couldn't agree more with his closing, which for people too lazy to read the link was this:

"The problem with making dire predictions like this is that modern economics is really an enormous confidence game. Like voodoo, it only works if you believe in it. You want to create a run on the banks? Tell people there's a run on the banks. So Celente isn't helping anybody except the folks who want to see the world collapse in the next four years, for entirely self-serving reasons."

agreed that Cilente is not alone in making certain 'predictions' ...

(snip)Although the risks were systematically dismissed for years by the Government, banks and corporations, the horrors that result from the 'deleveraging' from such massive speculation, debt, leverage and fraud, are now dawning with ferocious intensity.

On the bright side, things may be so bad by January 20, 2009, and people so scared, that they will be prepared to accept policies, delivered by an outstanding level of oratory by President Obama, that they would have been totally unaccepted only months before.

We know that he has the skill. But if he also has the vision and the nerve, Obama may even be able to convince America to accept the excruciating pain necessary to restructure our economy and restore our national wealth. This must involve boosting production at the expense of excessive consumption.

It is a long shot, but at least it is a possibility that could end in a resurgence of American prosperity and power. Should Obama fail to seize this painful but historic chance, the markets will be left to deliver the inevitable pain. The credit rating on American debt will be cut and the U.S. dollar and markets will plummet, delivering a blow to the standard of living of most Americans that will threaten insurrection"(snip)

    Yeap, prophecy can be self-fulfilling.

i agree with it being a self fulfilling prophecy. what's happening now all started post 9/11 when there was a turn to home, and with it an emphasis on the housing industry and saving for the future/debt reduction. the cockiness of being smarter than your neighbors by doing what suze ormann tells you to. and of course, the smarter thing is killing our economy by spending less and investing everything in the fucking market, which isn't looking all that smart right now. everyone was predicting bad times ahead and thinking they'd get out of it by causing it in the first place.

i wish people would stop listening to bitches like him.
