Duh Old Scars...Not a Good Kind...

    Hey all,

Just curious, I have several, ahem, self inflicted scars on the topside of my right thigh from when I was a young, stupid, hormonal teenager that hated the world.

Is that totally going to kill my chances of getting hired and or making money? I am very ashamed of them but it's not something i can undo at this point, and they are rather noticeable up close...

The lights in the club tend to hide these kinds of things.
I have the same problem, only with my ankles.
My mum uses the Nivea cellulite kit thingie on her stretch marks, and it seems to work.
Maybe it would work for other scars too.
    I is a mommy.

hi girls.... first post. maybe i can help... as spankie said many times the lights in the club tend to make these things less noticable. but if the guy is all up in your stuff so to speak and you're worried about curious questions and whatnot, go to macy's or your local department store and get some dermablend. i hear its very opaque and is formulated just for scars.

makeup forever also makes fabulous body makeup that many celebrity makeup artists use to cover tattoos and scars. it stays put, it comes in more colors then dermablend and its very good stuff. the more gold tones in your skin the more red marks and scars are less obvious. i have scars and some discoloration from liposuction and when im pasty and white you can notice them, but slap a lil self tanner on that mug and voila! perfect skin!

    good luck!

I have DOZENS of self inflicted scars from when I was a teenager. The lights in the club do wonders, as does the sally hanson leg spray. After the spray is dry, mist a little hair spray over it to set it. Lasts all night. You'd never know I had a single mark.

Mederma works really wells for reducing the visability of both old and new scars. It's a little expensive but it works wonders. At least it did in my case. You can pick it up at any drug store CVS, Wallgreens, etc. You just have to remember to use it three to four times daily and you have to use it for a few months.

To lessen the appearance of scars, use Vitamin E liquid or Palmer's Cocoa Butter with Vitamin E and massage it into the scars often. Over time it will significantly reduce the appearance of the scars, make them not so deep and take away redness. Use the makeup suggested in the meantime.
I have a bad scar on my arm from glass cutting so deep it severed the nerve, artery, and cut muscle. It was bright red when I first got it. After a year or so of using Vitamin E religiously, noone even notices it.

Wear a garter belt! They're also good for hiding the scars from tummy tucks. Find a nice, broad lace one, and rock it!

I have some nasty scars on my wrists. I never had any problems getting hired r making money with them. Though I did find out that someone referred to me as "that chick with the crazy scars", but whatever.

Do any of those products work well on big, deep, and dark scars? I have one from an implant piercing, right in between the boobs (yeah, bad place) so its very noticeble, though it looks more as if I got stabbed.

Mederma does help reduce the look of raised scars.

DERMABLEND is awesome makeup for making any scar the same color as the rest of your skin. I used to cover tattoos and a HUGE surgical scar w/ the stuff. I reccommend that you get the setting powder to put over the makeup and dont wear anything white as it is still makeup and will stain white clothes.

You can buy dermablend online but i reccommend going into a Macy's to find your perfect shade in person.

I too have scars from cutting on my thighs. I usually wear thigh highs to cover the scars and apply Mederma. If I want to go bare legged I would try to cover the scars with some of the Makeup Forever suff mentioned on this thread. Would I have to worry about it rubbing off on customers? Should I stick with the Sally Hansen spray tan? My scars are not very obvious in the light but I am a little self conscious about them.

PS - I'm new to the community, and love it so far =]

I have several self-inflicted scars on my upper arms, and I found an amazing product that helps cover them! I used concealer (everyday kind) and some shimmer powder, and then used the Urban Decay All Nighter spray... and spent all night out clubbing. When I got home, you still couldn't see them. It's expensive-ish ($24), but it works like a charm.

Bio-Oil does a kickass job of reducing scars if you massage it in daily. My best friend has a sternum/cleavage piercing scar and its almost gone after using this product for the last few months. She's religious about taking care of it, but its paid off. Its also well-priced for the volume of oil you get...

You could just run with that story. It would be pretty interesting I think.

Anyways this thread has been insanely helpful.

I have loads of small scars on my upper arms and a few on my thighs including two massive ones. When I first started I always wore thigh high stockings or socks. After two and a half years only ever had a handful of customers ask me about the leg ones to which I just shrug and say "car accident years ago" and only 1 guy ever mentioned the arm ones. If the club has dim lighting and red lights you can barely see them.
