Duh seductive dancing equals sexually active?!

ok so i'm a frequenter on the imdb.com boards. and i learned something new on julianne hough's (dancing with the stars) message board. apparently, if you were costumes like her and can move your body in a sensual way, then you must be a major slut! no way a "good" virgin can move in such a manner! *sracasm* i find that so stupid, because a lot of you ladies on here are either virgins or in serious monogamous relationships. honestly, i don't know how so many of you have such thick skin to deal with attitudes like that

^^But when you first started, you probably sucked just like the rest of us. We've all snickered at the new girl who looked more like she was having a seizure on stage than actually dancing.

In my town, the term "slut" doesn't seem to have the same meaning anymore. Getting trashed is Lafayette, LA's fav pastime. So you have a bunch of half naked girls, drunk, going home with various men, but they are not considered sluts. However, take your clothes off for money, and you must be a slut.

    I didn't suck. I wasn't the best, but girls couldn't believe that i was a newbie.

I have alot of confidence, and i was a preformer (dancing in concerts) before i started.

And being a virgin doesn't effect the way you dance. Its your confidence and body movement (also your flexibility which i am still working on)

    Wacky concept

I made my best money ever dancing when I was celibate! I figure it was because I was channeling my sexual energy into my dancing rather than in the bedroom.

I knew I was gonna be a stripper since I was about 8. Why? The way I danced. I was a virgin obviously, but I've always danced seductively when nobody was around. I liked the way it looked, I liked the way it felt, and I had an appreciation for the art of seduction through movement from very early age.

Where could I go that would allow me to dance that way and not be ostracized (sp?) for it? The stripclub. And when I finally started at 18, I didn't suck at all. I was damned good.

If this mindset is true then every teenage girl imitating the rap video vixens, the Britney's, the JLo's, the Pussycat Dolls etc etc etc are all sluts even if they are just barely into puberty.

Women by nature I believe are sensual, and seduction is just a part of why women and men love to look at and are attracted to women.

There is some genetic hard wiring and I think the sensuality opens up when the hormones hit us women, no matter what age it begins. We discover our bodies and that boys/girls have discovered them. Once puberty hits, our hips broaden and the body changes all over...with our hips getting wider our way of moving changes.

Just throwing it out there but perhaps when we start moving like a woman, wear our first pair of heels we feel our power and our sensuality. Like all things we experiment and wow...I like how this feels .....

Moving sensually is moving feminine, not masculine. It is enjoying our sex (female), our sexuality, our body and more. It can also be empowering.

The old story just gets older...when a woman uses her sexuality, exploits it or in any way owns it...you know being "sexually aggressive" then the 1+1=slut to many. If a man is "sexually aggressive" then he is THE MAN.

I enjoyed being sensual, moving in sexy ways, dancing in ways to make the guys look twice long before I became sexually active. So I conclude women who use their sensuality and sexuality are a threat and the slut label is used to either "keep us in check" or to intimidate us, or to alienate us....

Sorry if it was wordy...I just think the whole thing is nuts!
Be very careful if you make a woman cry, because God counts her tears. The woman came out of a man's rib. Not from his feet to be walked on. Not from his head to be superior, but from the side to be equal. Under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved."

Your "community's" definition of 'slut' is based what you've heard from people who likely don't know too much but who like to imagine sexual things and maybe withhold their own desires. Maybe sleeping around is an accepted part of finding a mate (assuming they think it's serial monogamy) so that doesn't get a derogatory term. But exhibiting yourself is, to the ignorant, just advertising for sleeping around just to get fucked and maybe even for doing sex tricks in the club. And maybe that is just a sign of an ignorant community or maybe country. (what have we come to?)
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

the whole thing is stupid. i'm already worried about how to protect my daughter from that label when she's older. and she's not even born yet! (still inside- 2 days late)

You can't "protect" her from that label, somebody might call her a slut even the first day at school. But you can teach her why some people call others sluts and that they are wrong, and teach her to be strong and reply to name calling in a smart way. The worst thing is to let that word repress you and fear being called that. That word is used only to degrade and control women.

i know perhaps protect is the wrong word, but i'm not sure what term i should use instead. i mean i want her to be able to defend herself and stand tall, even if someone does throw that at her over something stupid. but then it's me and i am pretty sensitive, so not sure if i'll be the right person to do that.

I get compliments on my dancing all of the time, and I dance pretty sensually (or whatever). I've been dancing for over 2 years and still have my V card.
