    Default Just a question

So at my local club they are advertising for

Dancer (experience not required as full training provided)
    Waitress
    Barmaid
    Hostess

If I became say a barmaid or something but then after a while wanted to become a dancer. Would other strippers in the club have a problem with this? I don't really see why they would but I just thought I would ask anyway. x

I don't see why they would care. They really shouldn't.

Yeah I dont think so I just thought they could be like 'wtf she came as a barmaid and now shes trying to take our customers' or something along those lines. Also does anyone know what a hostess is exactly?

The hostess is the girl who sits at the desk in the little front room/alcove that you go through before you get into the actual club. She greets customers and takes their money. And most of the time she is a total bitch to the dancers who come to audition.

Hostess can also mean VIP hostess, ie, she processes the money for rooms. This is a tip based position.

Most clubs hire "waitresses" etc as a way of getting fresh girls into a club, but soon try to badger them into dancing. I'm sure the other girls will expect to see you in stillettos in no time!

No I'd be quicker as a dancer to accept someone I already worked with over someone brand new. But it doesn't really matter either way... why don't you just wanna begin as a dancer?

    A few reasons.

    1) I know you get payed hardly anything but I need secured money rather than not to sure if Id make any atall on some nights

    2) I don't feel confident with my body hardly atalll! I mean I like my face/hair so Im not a really self concious person just my body isnt great. I have hardly any curves and just generally too skinny, I need to put some weight on..which is hard when you have the fastest metabolism ever.

    3) I think I would enjoy just being a barmaid I would feel less pressure/nervous when I went to work and I feel if when I was comfy with the club from that job Id feel so much more happier when becoming a dancer..if that makes sense =)

Usually, I would say most dancers expect the wairess, hostess, to turn dancer, it happens all the time at my club. No big deal

Yes, this does happen all the time at my club and it's annoying every time that it does. If you want to dance, then dance.

I'm alittle put off when staff flip-flop and decide they wanna dance. My club is messy at best and never has anything nice to say about workers that do this. I think it's alittle dishonest and I take issue with future dancers misrepresenting themselves as staff. Be up front and honest about your intentions. Or, don't pump me for information, cultivate regulars from a staff position, be fake and condescending to other girls, and kiss a$$ at will with your hidden agenda.

Hopefully, other clubs handle this more professionally, but with my club there's always some initial drama. It's never what you think it is and staff turned dancers always expect you to be nice to them and help them out because remember they're the cashier or the hostess or the office girl. Wtf

It rarely goes over well at my club and when it does, don't expect me to roll out the red carpet for you. You can sink or swim like all the other newbies. I totally understand your position and respect why you'd like to start out behind the scenes. I'm the same way with all new dancers and refuse to give you preferential treatment because you used to be staff.

There's just such high turnover in dancing that I try not to attach myself to anyone and generally keep to myself. I'm not bitchy or totally cold. I'm more reserved and private. I'm sure you'll do fine, but know there are all types of dancers out there and you never know who your friend is. I'm an honest one and eventhough I won't help you, I won't screw you over. Some girls are quick to help, but these are the same ones talking sh$% about you behind your back.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

haha Im not trying to make friends, I want to have a job to make money. Im not going to be 'fake' and If someone asked I would say Id like to eventually get into dancing. I just want to feel more comfortable with the club/figure it out abit. And myself really. I just wasnt sure if this was a big thing in clubs like dancers get really offended or something so I was just checking lol but thanks for all the feedback! x

I've worked a bazillion clubs, dancers are more concerned with their money than you. don't worry. do what makes you feel comfortable.

true that. it's like the old saying, "what's the difference between a cocktail waitress and a dancer? Two weeks."

I've worked with waitresses, bartenders, etc that became dancers. Depending on the club, many of them only make tips. I think this is bs if they are serving drinks and/or making them or doing other duties like cleaning. Another way for management to get free help. However, I've also worked with waitresses/bartenders/hostesses who stayed in those positions because they were getting a salary and tips and in many cases were making more than the dancers. It's pretty common for them to become dancers.

Haha! I was just about to post that joke. The version I've heard goes

"What do you call a waitress/bartender at a strip club after two weeks?"

    ...."A stripper"

Not to make light of the post.....and with all respect to the OP.

Bexx some people are gonna like it, some people are gonna hate it, and some will not give two shits. At the end of the day, do what's best, and feels right, for you.
