Thumbs down Club Foxy's in Guam totally unprofessional

I was supposedly going to Guam for the winter. I had the contracts sent to me and signed them electronically. The manager Norman James asked me to obtain a passport because it would be cheaper to book my ticket. I told him between the holidays and the bad economy it might be a bit difficult but I would try. I asked him if there was any way to assist me with the fee being taken out of my earnings. So far he hasn't responded back to the emails that I sent him asking whats going on. I can't believe how unprofessional they're being. Anyone have a bad experience with boking Guam?

Yeah mostly skimmed over them...it was even spilt if Guam was paradise or hell on Earth. I'm inclined to agree with the latter after going through all this bullshit. I'm staying my ass here stateside!

that's good to know about guam and passports. it doesn't raise a red flag for me. its not the clubs responsibility to take care of your passport. with the economy the way it is everywhere, you can't blame them for wanting the cheaper airfare.

I just wanted a simple "No we can't" answer and so far I haven't heard back from him. thats mostly why I'm bothered. I kept my emails very professional and respectful. I was merely inquiring about the possibility, but I had no expectations other than a yes or no response.

Thanks. I took a look at it. I've heard so many conflicting stories from different clubs. Crazy Horse Told me I didn't need one, then this link says diffrently. I'm just tempted to get the damn thing anyways to avoid the hassle regardless of where I go for work or vacation.

Finally found the right information on the State Department website and the answer is no you don't need a passport. LINK. This is a definitive answer and the only one I would trust at this point.

However I would get one anyways, they are good for ten years. I used to work for a company that sent me overseas at the last minute because I was one of the few people who had a passport. You can get an expedited passport in a matter of days if needed.

Guam is a US territory and you do not need a passport to go there. I wouldn't work there but Vaca maybe.

Reason they might be saying traveling with a passport maybe cheaper is they might route you through Japan. Longer flight and totally unnecessary.

That makes sense, from what I could find you do need a passport to enter Guam if your flight was from Japan. When you enter Guam through Japan you have left the US and are now reentering the US from a foreign country, you would also need a passport to enter Japan.

If they ask you to pay extra money that you dont absolutely have to spend, in order to work at their club, i would ask them for special accomodations in return. Lower house fee per night or something? cheaper housing if you have to pay? You do them a favor....they should do you a favor.

To get to Guam from one of the fifty US states, you must fly through Hawaii. There are no flights that go directly from the mainland to Guam. I believe there is a single daily flight on Continental Airlines from Hawaii to Guam. If you take that Continental flight, you do not need a passport. Any other arrangements you make to get to Guam will take you through an Asian city, probably Japan. Northwest for example, will take you through Tokyo or Osaka. For those flights you need a passport. Six weeks ago, I flew from Washington DC to Guam. The Hawaii connection was difficult to make, involving an ovenight stay at some airport. A co-worker traveling for the same reason I was did find a way to make the Hawaii connection, but his ticket was $500 ($2200 vs $1700) more than mine and his trip home had an overnight stay in Hawaii.

If you can make the one daily flight from Hawaii to Guam, then great, you don't need a passport. If you require any flexability in scheduling flights, or you want to save hundreds of dollars in airfare, then you do need a passport.

Ladies.. I booked World Wide including Guam prior 911... My girls needed the passport as part of their ID Package To get in .. But was mainly needed to get back out and into the US...
You Do Know that the clubs there require ALL THE EXTRAS....From the Self Booked Dancers. There is no one to back up just one or two Dancers.. One of the Self Booked girls was on the same flight in as my girls. That was cleared in 10 mins. She spent 36 hrs in customs. Customs some how lost all her bags.. They ceased her Cash/ Credit Cards and Pass Port.... That left her there alone and broke.. Feeling Lucky Not to be in jail..Looking at a 30 day booking and Her room cancelled that 1st night when she didn't showed . Just as luck would Have it a off Duty Driver seen her and took her in.. Got her a couple of Dates to buy Clothes and a room.. Then took her to the club and finally got his cousin to let her have her Job. But she had to let the GM (the cousin)keep her $400 weekly Salary Plus pay him for the Lodging and paid back the air fare because she was Now 4 days late for her booking...

The issue that TravelGuy and Wray are circling around is the consequence of accepting a 'contract' with ANY club ! A contract involves commitments on the part of the club that certain things will be provided (i.e. air fare reimbursement, reduced cost lodging), but also involves commitments on the part of the dancer that certain things will be provided (i.e. showing up ready to begin work on a specific date, keeping club customers 'happy' in the view of the clubowner etc.). In point of fact, ANYTHING that interferes with a dancer's ability to perform as called for in the contract puts the contract itself in jeopardy ... and along with it a reneging on the part of the club from THEIR obligations under the jeopardized contract.

By the letter of the law, it does not matter whether the dancer's 'reasons' for non-performance were beyond her control or not (example dancer being hassled by Customs, costumes being lost by airline luggage shufflers etc.). If the dancer (partially) failed to deliver on her contract commitments, the clubowner has every right to (partially) fail to deliver on the club's contract commitments. In cases where airline tickets are concerned, from a legal standpoint the return ticket remains the property of the club unless and until ALL of the dancer's contract commitments have been fulfilled to the clubowners' satisfaction. This situation obviously places a dancer who has made 'total performance' related contractual commitments in a very precarious position.

When I was still travelling, I made it a matter of policy to ALWAYS pay for my own airline tickets. I also had an agent negotiate specific contractual arrangements with any club I wanted to work at if the club actually required a contract ... terms which specifically avoided any 'total performance' requirements on my part. Whenever possible, I would try to arrange 'handshake' terms with the clubowner, in essence meaning that the clubowner owed me nothing other than allowing me to work in his club, but also meaning that I owed the clubowner nothing in return other than the club's 'cut' of my nightly earnings. Of course, being billed as a 'feature' rather than a house dancer provided me much more flexibility in this area. But I also made sure that I had enough travellers checks with me to buy my way out of any uncomfortable situation , just in case (and was very glad to have them on a few extremely forgettable new club experiences - even though it meant that particular road trip turned into a major money loser).

However, that was then and this is now. As Wray points out, there are now far more dancers who are both naive and financially stressed that are seeking offshore gigs ... meaning that the offshore clubowners can pretty well 'dictate' the contract terms they want, and also meaning that these financially stressed dancers are not in a position to buy their way out of uncomfortable situations with their own money. And as Wray also points out, travelling in / through some foreign countries on a US passport is now more of a negative than a positive. And to make matters worse, if a contract does exist which winds up self-destructing, there is essentially NO CHANCE that a 'non-local stripper' is going to win over a well connected local clubowner in the eyes of local cops and/or courts. This is true within the 48 continental states, is more true in offshore US states and US territories, and is even more true in actual foreign countries.
