    Default Agent Provocateur

Why is this brand so popular? I was at their boutique the other day and everything they had looked really similar to stuff from Victoria's secret and Leg Avenue that I already owned and bought for a fraction of what they were selling it for. In fact I have one Leg Avenue outfit that is almost identical to an AP outfit, I've actually had girls ask me if its from AP. I think it might have been trying to knock AP off now that I see it in person :-(.

Anyway why does everyone always rave about this brand? Is it simply designer hype or is it really that much better and well worth it? None of my lingerie falls apart very quickly and i personally did not feel anything special fabric wise when i looked through the outfits...so what is it about this brand? I did not try anything on because I only try stuff on when I know for sure I am going to buy something (i dont want to waste the sale attendants time and put wear into outfits I am not going to buy) but I have boobs similar to the ones on the models on their websites and the outfits just dont seem like they fit any better than the ones at other cheaper stores. Some actually look horribly unflattering and I wonder why they would use a model with say saggy boobs to model a see through unpadded jumpsuit (like on the MAIN page!) I also hate how most of their stuff has no padding! No padding means no one knows my boobs exist. Someone please convert me because I do want to like this brand if its THAT much better.

There is nothing special about this brand AT ALL, it's just marketing hype - naughty lingerie for rich people. Same stuff you could buy from Leg Avenue or Victoria Secret but a lot more expensive so that people with money think it's 'classy'.

That's why they use the saggy boobed models - to have someone with the required assets modelling their products would not give off the 'classy' image they are after.

well i actually like that they dont use models with fake boobs like fredericks, trashy, leg avenue, etc. but at the same time it kind of makes the lingerie look not as exciting when someone with pancake boobs is modeling a paper thin outfit. i cant wear things that are see thru and without padding, they look wrong on me. neither can that model on the main page. (Though her face freaks me out a lot more than her boobs!)

When I was in London I picked up bunch of stuff at that store and it is really quality stuff.

Doesn't even compare to leg avenue or vic secret in my opinion.

It looks classy retro to me. They have a good selection of sizes too. Im a 32DD, 32E, small everywhere else and it's hard to find my size and they have it.

I love sexy lingerie, and not much beats it in my opinion.

It is made well and of quality material. The sizes are true and the lingerie is actually put together quite nice and looks like there was a lot of thought in the design.

I hate VIC secret, all my stuff from them ends up falling apart and Leg avenue....no way!

I was not all that impressed with the lingerie that I was given from there. Yes it was pretty but the prices I looked at online after recieving it WOW that is some pretty expensive stuff and I am not sure why its so expensive. Some of the pieces look beautiful though.

I did fall for the sexy perfume bottle for the perfume they had called "STRIP", I got it and the only thing good about the perfume is the actual bottle. I liked it at first but now it just smells like bug spray or something....why do I always fall for those pretty bottles!!!

Well I usually wear a 32-34 A or B so I dont have that same problem lol, which is why I guess I cannot appreciate their stuff, since my bras are easy to find and dont fall apart easily since they arent even holding much lol.

I was there the other day, having a look about and I couldnt find anything over a C-cup....

That said, it is pretty, and I guess for people with money, its not that expensive... Everyone I know who has tried it is really into it anyway. PLus I tried their DD perfume the other day and it was lovely!

I think the problem with a lot of their underwear is that is more just sex underwear, as opposed to anything you'd wear out under clothes...

I'm a 30E/ 32DD and i've never seen anything in there over a C up either! I really don't think the quality is any higher than Victoria Secret - i've bought good silk underwear from VS that has lasted me for years! I'd much rather buy underwear and corsets from What Katie Did.

I love Agent Provocateur...I just love the way it is presented-the ad campaigns, the lay outs, the photography-AP just OOZES romance and sensuality to me. And do their models have saggy boobs? I never noticed that. What I saw was natural breasts and softer, what I call more European looking curves. I can't speak about the quality as I don't own any AP pieces, but it gives me something to look forward to...

As for VS, I went on a VS spree circa 2001. I was in a new relationship with someone who liked to see me "suited up". He kept me busy coming up with new outfits. I was living in a suburban town down south and VS was the best available. The only pieces I really liked were the corsets and the garter belts...the rest didn't seem particularly special. As far as AP vs VS,whatever, all of these companies are selling a fantasy...they are just selling it at a different price points, aimed at different audiences.

I'm glad another woman mentioned WHAT KATIE DID, her lingerie is beautiful and I'd much rather support an independent business woman than a corporation. There are a lot of options out there and as we women know, variety IS the spice of life. Cheers! Harlow

Victorias secret is coming out with a lot of new stuff more recently. I agree that back in 2001 they werent all that great but the very sexy collection has super cute stuff and they just came out with intimissimi which i guess is supposed to be kind of european style. In select stores they also have the designer collection which features brands such as pleasure zone which are all really gorgeous. pricy- 100 bucks or so for a bra, but still not as expensive as AP and its currently half off right now at the semi annual sale!

I definitely think its the brand. Even I get sucked into it. I love their original perfume but I just can't afford the lingerie, far too overpriced.
Yes some of the stuff is gorgeous but this babydoll for example

WHATS WITH THAT? a shapeless sheer sack for £175?

-ETA- I think Playful promises http://www.playfulpromises.com do beautiful lingerie and the prices are quite good

    This "bra" is £75

Some of their stuff is beautiful, but a lot of the time it seems like you're not getting a lot for your money e.g. the above

i've never tried it, but i'm not too big on spending large amounts of money on lingerie. everything i own is vics, because it's the cheapest i can find that stays together and holds up the girls.

    i dunno.

if i ever find myself working in a high end club again, i'll buy some higher end lingerie. until then, vics is as fancy as i need.

tbh, i wish i could just get some made custom. that would be sweet.

Their current collections, Pirates and Witches, are pretty ugly. I can't wait for their new collection and getting back to regular old AP!

trashy is just cheap stuff bought downtown in the la fashion district with stuff added on that will fall apart after one use. overpriced and badly made.

I just saved playful promises to my faves. Cute stuff.

As for AP, its a good place to send customers when they want to buy you stuff. For everyday wear, I go to fredrick's of hollywood. Their stuff is very reasonable.

Ive gotten bored with VS, but they actually carry my size.

I would reccomend not ordering items that are "one size fits all" or only come in 2-3 specific colors. Any of the outfits that actually come in sizes and let you choose your fabric/color combo, are actually made to order, and they are good quality.

I have never bought their stuff but I know people who have worked for the company and they know that they buy their lingerie downtown in the fashion district for pennies and then add frilly stuff and sell it for 300 times the original price.
If it has lasted you then you must take good care of it and not wear it very often because the quality is extremely poor. Either way I refuse to pay 300 dollars for a bra thats made of material that only costs 5 bucks.

I love it,Oksana. Are you "give me the bird"? ha ha Even the layouts that DON'T ooze romance and sensuality have that je ne sais quoi that piques my interest. Can you just imagine the brainstorming session that yielded that first photography..."And Mr. Worthington,I think it'd be really erotic if one of the models was holding up a dead pheasant..." All the staff "oohs" and "ahhs" in response. I would have loved to have been there that day! Thanks Oksana for giving me a good laugh. Cheers!!! Harlow

I disagree. Everything I own by them lasts and lasts. And I'm pretty confident most of it is made in-house.

I love Trashy's lingerie- very sexy. I need to add some to my wardrobe. Does the store have sales?

^ no aside from their pre-packaged costumes (that are made in Asia, but still as high quality as the USA made custom stuff) and their "bargain" stuff (which is stuff like Leg Avenue), it's all made to order and never goes on sale.
