    Default Job Satisfaction ?

Beyond the lucrative tax free cash income, is there any job satisfaction in stripping? I'd love to hear from strippers what, if anything, besides banking ample wads of cash do they enjoy in the course of their shift dancing? Is there anything other than the hefty cash harvest that makes them smile inside with a sense of accomplishment after a performance ?

^^Well, first off many of us do declare taxes on this, just like any other job, so it isn't nearly as lucrative as many may think.

For me, I really love being an entertainer. I love to dance and feel sexy. But it is still a job. You treat it like you would any job. You go to work and you get paid.

Now, I will be honest and say though, that if I don't make money, I am very disappointed and would rather be doing something else. Not because I don't like my job, but more the guys who were at my job that day. I really hate it when I did a good stage routine and guys just sit at the tip rail without tipping. I go over and dance for them and pull out my g-string, for them to just sit there with their arms crossed. Or guys who are rude for no reason and just sit in the club all night and don't spend money on the girls.

I do love this job, but when you work hard and you don't get paid, it sucks.

More or less I love it because I get to be a performer. When I was little I wanted to be a famous singer. I can't sing for shit, so I guess this is a good substitute in regards to the stage.

When I was working, I loved the atmosphere-the music, the dancing, the party atmosphere, getting dressed up,feeling attravtive and flirty, and getting to know new people. Also making my own schedule and having a greater level of independence than I would have in most jobs. In fact, I still miss those things. Cheers, Harlow

    I love...

the money, the scheduling freedom (I'm a student), my coworkers (free thinkers, liberal), how it changes me (my job gave me the ability to go from being a wallflower to a professional conversationalist when I please), how it makes me feel (I get to dance, let go, feel desired), how I make my customers feel (like someone is out there to listen to them, like they can converse successfully with beautiful women), my customers (fascinating people who love to celebrate women), the insight it gives me (I get to meet so many interesting people, hear from so many empowered women, learn about a plethora of different subjects), etc. etc. etc.

The only things I don't like about the job--how it physically hurts me (sore knees, back, etc.) and when customers and I butt heads (in which case I have the autonomy to leave the situation).

I love, love, love my job.

Most of us that make (A LOT) of money DO pay taxes. We're not stupid girls that dance for twenties and don't claim our "dollar bills".

Go away -- it's not US that are a cliche, it's YOU!

I think Charlie hit all the points pretty dead on..

There isn't another kind of profession that I can think of that offers the same types of rewards..

I enjoy the flexibility and not having to adhere to a schedule. Also, not having to answer to some dipshit boss every day. The money is nice too.

Sounds to me like a long-ass-beating-around-the-bush version of the "does she really like me or does she just want my money" question...

Tax free income is for the most part illegal.I love my job most days. I dont like it when people assume that i dont pay taxes or live the life of a respectable citizen. As a car and home owner filing taxes was required for the financing of the mortgage and loan.

With that said, i love the fact that my job keeps me in shape, around lots of types of people, gets me into social situations that my hermit ass might not otherwise have, i can have a few drinks on the job, im exposed to new music, flexible scheduling, freedom of work pace.

I responded to the thread cuz its good to remind myself why i do what i do.

Haha same...I totally used this thread as an opportunity to wax poetic on what I love about my job. I didn't even notice until h1's response that the OP was actually phrased pretty obnoxiously. Instead I was all like "yeaaaah let's talk about why stripping is awesome...."

Out of curiosity ladies, how long have you been dancing?

I've always thought that a dancer's enthusiasm for her job slowly diminishes with time.

I have been stripping for over two years. It isn't a newlywed stage--I obviously have bad nights at work where I'm like "the money sucks right now and I don't feel like being social: get me out of here," but I generally love mah jawb.

I know my love for the job is partially because 1) I'm in school (I won't be doing this for life and I have a way out) and 2) My family is financially secure, so if I stopped stripping, I'd have a support system. I'm sure I'd be much less enthusiastic if I absolutely had to strip to make ends meet, or if I were in an enormous amount of debt. Then again, this fact isn't unique to stripping: NO ONE likes their job when they absolutely have to do it to stay out of debt, etc.

    Phil.
Ive been dancing a lil over 10 years. i started in 1998.

As i matured i appreciated the perks of dancing more and more.

I mean yeah, i no longer have that cheezy enthusiasm about the job,but i still have that itch.

I am genuinely grateful for the perks of the job and ESPECIALLY when compared side by side to my experiences in my career field (which i got degreeS for).

i feel like im in a whole new chapter of my dancing career currently seeing as how i am more in touch w/ my sexuality and womanhood. I was a baby when i started and not so in touch w/ the sexy yet, lol.

8.5 years. and one thing I do love aside from the money, no schedule, etc. Is the look on their face when they ask me out , and I reply No and they realize it was all fake. Also, when I get some big shot ass and I put him in his place and have him thank me when i take his money.

Whoa! My income is tax free? Why didn't the IRS tell me that and keep taking my tax money?

Oh, and turn off your TV. Strippers make about the same income as a plumber or other tradesman. There are about 5% of all dancers currently working that earn over $50K a year (no vacation, no sick leave, no health plan, no 401K). I'd hardly call that "Ample wads of Cash".

So you would have to conclude that the job is enjoyable. Since most public school teacher earn more than most strippers. Either that or you would have to conclude that the economy is so horrible that the only way a person can get ahead is to compromise his/her principals to put food on the table.

Ugh! There is so much condescension in this post it is veritably dripping on my keyboard.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

I stand at least partially corrected. You ladies obviously retain a fair degree of enthusiasm for what you do.

My experience tends to be slightly the reverse in that I know several dancers well, and their enthusiasm has waned over the years. One indeed has just stopped because she's decided the minuses now outweigh the pluses.

I guess as individuals we're all different and see the world in a great variety of ways.

Please, anyone who isn't an idiot and who's spent any time in a SC and/or on this website surely knows it's a business transaction.

Obviously we all do something to make a living, though some occupations have the fringe benefit of offering intangible rewards. Some form of atta boys, applause, or sense of accomplishment besides the financial rewards. As I'm a patron not a dancer, I write to this website to see the experience from the dancer's point of view.

I've clubbed a long time. And I've always wanted to believe that I (and other clubbers of similar ilk) have provided non-tangible but valuable rewards to the lades. I mean, I am witty and amusing and OK looking for an older guy and don't mind buying rounds of drinks. But the evidence is overwhelming.

Absolutely true but since this is not a strip club but rather a web site about strip clubs and dancers I tend to expect the worst. My BS radar is even higher when the OP is presumptuous and accuses people of breaking the law...

I have for several years helped a dancer with her studies. She got her degree last year, which made me very pleased for her. She should get her masters this year, which will make me even more pleased for her.

I charged her a fee of a 'gin and tonic' for the help I gave her for her degree, and I'll change her the same for the help I'm giving her with her masters.

I calculate I cost her about a cent an hour - talk about slave labor rates.

As strippers are selling sex-appeal, not sex, I was curious if there was any sense of gamesmanship in the performance art of separating patrons from their dollars. Similar to a game of poker where both parties engage a relaxed concentration by examining the tangible in front of them and the intangible of what their counter part is thinking. Whether they win or loose, they enjoy the challenge of what they're doing. Similar to poker, there's a certain risk/reward element in stripping for both the seller and the buyer.

It seems a few respondents found a degree of enjoyment/job satisfaction in their work.
