Default Anyone else a little burnt out?

I've been dancing for about 4 years, and for the last like 8 months I've been working about 4 or 5 nights a week. I'm usually one of the top earners at my club but I've done really crappy the last week. On New Year's i did awesome, and I havent made over $200 since. The last 2 nights I walked out negative $. Not too many girls made much money in the last week. I dont think its me, personally. I definitely think its the economy. But its really starting to take a toll on me emotionally. I need to get it together and get my game face on. I dont have the option of taking a week off to get my head together, I really need money.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do when you're feeling burnt out or had a bad week? Is anyone else having serious issues where you're at? Thanks for the help, everyone.

Hey there, I'm goin thru the same thing and it's driving me crazy!!!! When I use to get in my ruts I would take a nice tropical vacation but can't afford to do that now that the economy has been bad. I was recommended to read a book called exotic dancing for idiots ( I've been dancing for 10 years and felt bored with my stage dance) it has really helped my stage presence. Make eye contact and if thats hard for you to do, look at they're forehead (while on stage) they think your looking at they're eyes.... and smile or give the facial expression that you use best. I'm still using the Happy New Year card, it kind of breaks the ice, ask them what they did for new years and hopefully while your having this small talk they are digging in they're pockets for $$$. Good luck!

What I should have done: taken breaks when I needed to, not because I thought the next customer was going to be the jackpot.
and 2. ended a dance when a customer just broke my boundaries, regardless of how much money I was going to make - THAT will tire me out so hard, personally.
    and 3. get my sleep

I've been dancing for six years at the same bar and this year is by far the worst.

I think we are all burnt out, I know I am. I haven't made shit since before new years, I got a ticket from vice the day after christmas and my bar is on my ass about back tip out. I worry every day that I won't be able to buy food and gas soon. I worry that I'll either have to waitress at some shithole or start doing extras.

personally, I'm going to travel to work in an undisclosed city (not vegas!) even though I know everyone says it sucks right now. It cannot be worse than Detroit and since I'm staying with a friend for free, my overhead is really low. I need warm weather. Its like 10 degrees here.

    On a bright note;

six years of dancing has taught me that typically January and February are my WORST months out of the year. I know I am really seasonally affected and I suspect many ladies on this board are as well, so our selling skills are not going to be up to par.

Just tonight I was at work and I lost money because I talked to a customer and walked away without asking him if he wanted a dance. In my head I thought, this guy is broke and he doesn't want a dance from me, even though he seemed interested. The next girl that came up to him made about 100. I know I would have that money in my pocket if I had asked, I'm just moody and my attitude comes across.

My identity is so wrapped up in dancing sometimes that I forget to express gratitude towards other aspects of my life. It sounds trite, but this might be the time to focus on things other than work or money. If we can afford to, maybe focus on family, education or creativity instead of generating finances. Doing things for ourselves that don't cost money but we've always wanted to do.

It will bet better! we will get through this!

From what I have noticed, three different clubs I have been to recently are all pretty slow right now. I too have noticed a decrease in the money Im making, as well as customer count in the clubs. You may need a break to help put yourself back in a positive mental place. But its also not necessary. Right now, everyone is kind of struggling but things ALWAYS pull back around again and in a few months you will be making so much you wont even remember the hard times. Although sometimes being in a funk may have resulted from something other than poor economy. Maybe take some time to find out why you are feeling so burnt out and try to take care of yourself before going back to work.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Don't worry. You probably wouldn't be able to find one anyway. I've been looking for 7 months....no dice.

Every time I get frustrated with stripping and think "fuck this. I'm gonna go get a real job tommorrow" I've gotta remind myself that it's not gonna happen.... i've been filling out applications and sending resumes since the beginning of last summer. It sucks, but even if I make $50 bucks it's $50 bucks more than I am making job hunting my ass off for fruitless results.

Please become a waitress at some shithole before you start doing extras. Nothing good can come out of it.

    yep! 100% burnt out!
    had a crappy week
my boss told me not to come in fri or saturday coz i have moaned constantly about how shit it is at the moment! and that i am having an 'identity crisis' watever the hell that is!
well, friday nite i didnt miss out on anything but saturday nite was apparently quite a good one! which im gutted about seeing as i am skint and have now had to break into my savings!
the main thing im pissed about is coz a girl who i thought was a friend had grassed me up saying i moan all the time and it puts a negative effect on the cub was why my boss called me and told me not to work! i was livid! and the thing is....she is jealous of me coz i make more money than her and wat a surprise...seeing as i wasnt there last nite she apparently did well.

    I believe in this theory.

My brother in law took my sister and I out to lunch on Monday, then to the bar for a few drinks, then to the nail salon to get our nails done and be pampered. It was great. I haven't had a day like that in a while. It made me relax and refresh a little, just to not feel so fucking stressed out. I could have never afforded a day like that on my own....it's nice when family comes through for you.

I agree with the at home spa treatments too, and that's usually what I do cause I'm broke all the time! There's a wealth of information on the net. Like masks you can make with ingredents from your fridge, scented oil baths, self pedicures....Even grabbing a box of hair dye and freshening up color, or a gloss treatment (Natural Instincts makes one) makes me feel good.

my club has been really quiet lately. some of the other girls are leaving each night and cannot afford to tip out. what i like to do is stay positive and remember that i am there to work, not drink/socialize/spend time in the dressing room.

sometimes i find myself feeling flustered early in the night because i haven't made as much as i like and i see that it affects my hustle.

on my down time, i make sure to get plenty of sleep and treat myself to a nice manicure/pedicure/massage. i take baths and take time to stretch, which i find to be very relaxing.

You just described my problem so well. What you said really hit home, I needed to hear it described like that. Its become sickening because I have so much to be grateful for but I'm depressed all the damn time because of my job. If I didnt make money the night before I want to sleep all the next day, when I should be spending time with my family.

On a brighter note, I start college on Tuesday! I can cut down my time at the club and spend nights at home with my baby, not to mention get an education and retire from dancing all together.

    Default January/February?

I was reading in some of your posts that January and February are your worst months. It has been my experience that the summer months are the worst here in NY.

During the hottest months here, late June to late August, I find that there are less customers at the club. Maybe because girls outside of the club are wearing less.

Also, we import about 20 russian girls in during these months. From what I've learned, they are on a break from school and come in on a student visa and work in the U.S. during the summers because they can make a lot of money in a short period of time.

    Any thoughts?

This is my (gasp) TENTH year of dancing....
and the first that I've struggled with burnout.

I'm coping by creating other streams of income, and only dancing when I have a scheduled regular and/or an event is in town.

    Its working for me!

I was reading something that someone else wrote- not sure who/where- but I was wondering if anyone has a traditional job or is going to school in addition to dancing? If not, what do you plan to do in ten years? Just curious.

To answer my own question, I do. I work about 50 hours a week, Monday through Friday (8AM-6PM) and dance on Friday and Saturday nights (10PM-4AM) for extra income. I really rely on the stability, benefits, and growth potential from my other job. Including travel time, I work nearly 75 hours per week between my two jobs, but it is worth it.

I did that in Oct and Nov. I'm more motivated to work four shifts per week now because I want to see if I can.

Customer-wise it's dead here too. Hopefully it'll get better in the summer. Less college students, but they're horrible tippers anyway. One asked me if a LD would cost him more than $10!! An other went to the ATM to take out the exact amount. They think that they don't need to tip for LDs and that tipping on-stage is "something nice to do."

And I started the pill so I'm less flirty, and less naturally-sexy. And overall, I'm just down in the colder months.

But I get a week off, so I'm taking that to get back in shape, and pamper myself. I'm not used to this whole girly-thing though, lol. And hopefully I'll see my boyfriend more often this week. He's always good at making me feel sexy.
Lead me not into temptation. I can find it myself.

Lots of the women here are students, work a traditional job, and/or have a college degree.

I am a student and dancer right now. I dance 5 nights a week and also go to school 5 days a week. At the end of last year, I was working a "normal" job 30-40 hours per week and dancing + school but it was just TOO much. I wasn't sleeping at all and just about lost my sanity, lol.

Anyways back to the OP's question - January and February have been pretty awful for me too. It's really stressful ... I'm hoping it picks back up soon, but in the meantime I am looking into non-nude cam girl sites to make some extra pocket money.

I'm also a full-time student...but there's no way I'd be able to work as much as some of the ladies on this site. I can only work about 2 nights a week without getting burned out. The fewer nights I work, the more money I make.

My club has gone way downhill and this month has been craptacular. I was really getting down on myself and starting to take it personally. I had two friday nights in a row where I made less than $200, when I expect to average $500 on a weekend night. My hustle is pretty good but I can't work with an empty club, ya know?
So I finally decided to travel out of town and test new waters. Voila! I made $800 on a Sunday night. This club is 3 hours away from my house but I figure it will be worth it to go once or twice a month for a pick-me-up. Moving is not an option unfortunately.
Anyway, I would recommend seeking out other clubs if your club isn't cutting it right now. A new atmosphere might be just what you need.
